I am a long-time resident of Milpitas, arriving in Silicon Valley after graduating from Anna University in Chennai, India. My wife, Malvica Suraj, and I are blessed to have a beautiful family which includes my eight-year old son Samarth and three-year old Riaan.
As a young man in my early 20's I came to this country with the hope and dream of a great future ahead. It has been my privilege to be a resident of the beautiful City of Milpitas since the day I landed. It has always been my desire to give back and contribute to the community that extended ample opportunities to build a strong future for my family and me.
My active involvement with politics began when I joined the Ro Khanna for Congress campaign, where I helped in mobilizing the community at the grassroots level. This gave me an opportunity to get feedback from the local Milpitas community about their needs and fueled my desire to help meet those needs.
As a personal mission to help children and adults with special needs, I have been associated with “Parents Helping Parents” program since 2006. Through this program, I ensured support and services needed for the families to reach their full potential. I have also supported other local Bay Area organizations such as the sister city program in Cupertino and several others. I served as a committee member for the recently-approved largest school bond in California, $284 million.
Recently, I was elected the Chairman of BACA (Bay Area Cricket Alliance). Prior to being the Chairman, I served as its Vice Chairman since 2011, serving as Chairman from 2016 to 2019 and now serving my second term. Playing cricket has been my childhood passion. Under my leadership, BACA has been driving cricket to new horizons by initiating and introducing the sport into the Bay Area Schools. I serve as Director and Secretary for USA Cricket.
As a young and aspiring entrepreneur, I have co-founded a couple of startups and have had success working in the sports industry. My skills in negotiation, customer service, sales and business development have helped me mature as a professional to produce the best for my businesses.
My enthusiasm, experience and expertise motivated me to author and share my journey from the day I boarded the flight in 2004 to the day I made my dream come true in this land of opportunity. My book entitled “A Flight and A Ferrari” has inspired numerous individuals to understand my journey and learn from it.
