I come from a family of educators who believe in public service. My great-great grandfather was minister, President of the Virginia State Teachers Association (African American), and Principal of the first school for African-American students in Danville, VA. I embrace his passion for education.

My background as a teacher, prinicpal and mentor of administrators will be an asset to the Board and District. I believe in public education and want to ensure our students are able to take advantage of the career and entrepreneurial opportunities in Silicon Valley. 

We must all rally together in these pandemic times to make sure our students have the academic and socio-emotional support they need.

I applaud the District for its efforts to fight racism, hate and support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. 

We need to gather more resources from the city and county to support our academic environment. 

Together, we will continue and enhance transparency, collaboration, and listening to all stakeholders.

32 years working in various postions with IBM Corp including manufacturing, engineering, and research. After a 5 year hiatus to raise my children to school age I accepted a position with Evergreen Valley College in the Engineering Department to help maintain and modernize the program. Life long resident of the Santa Clara Valley except for a time with the United States Army. I am a life long learner, and have been active in the Mt Pleasant Elementary as a volunteer with the School Site Councils, in the robotics program, and member of several Parent Teacher Associations. I have had the privelege and honor to be a member of the school board since 2016.

I believe in constitution, I took an oath to protect and defend the constitution when I joined the Army in 1969, there is no "un-oathing". I am a life long independent or undeclared voter. I do not believe in the "party line", but have voted for the candidates or issues that I felt were the best for my community, state, and nation. I believe that voting is more that a right, its a responsibility of citizenship.

I moved here six years ago when my husband became a physician at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. After traveling extensive global travel, we are delighted to call East San Jose our home. 

My education is in Political Science and film/video production. My career adventures include teaching in New Zealand, working for the blood bank in Ireland, and editing for Vidomaker magazine in my hometown, Chico CA. But the most satisfying vocation has been as a stay-at-home mom. 

When my children started school, I started volunteering. I help in classrooms, book fairs, and PTAs. Last year, I spearheaded a district-wide committee to rejuvenate the athletic fields. Now I would like to take my dedication to this district to the next level and become a Board Trustee for MPESD.
