Issues of the Day

I am proud to have served my community for last several years and look forward to continuing to maintain our little slice of paradise through my work on Council. I truly believe we can be fiscally prudent, environmentally conscious, and sustainable for our children and generations beyond. Carpinteria is a special small beach town and with hard work we can keep it that way.

I am committed to preserving our treasured parks, open space, and agricultural lands.

I have helped preserve our environment representing Carpinteria on the BEACON board- an important partner in climate change planning.

With the goal of increasing our open space, I continue to work on the Bluffs III acquisition.

I will advocate for creative planning within new and remodeled developments to provide adequate housing for our local employees at all income levels in the years ahead.

I support local work force and senior housing. I will continue to advocate for ways to meet these needs.

Fiscal Stablility

I truly believe we can grow our economy in such a way that it does not change the character of Carpinteria.

I will continue to advocate for resource-neutral businesses to complement our research and development business sector at the east end of town.

I will continue to advocate for expanded shuttle bus service for the under-served areas of Carpinteria.

As part of the Bicycle Tourism Coalition, I am advocating for completing the bike trail from Rincon Point to Santa Claus Lane, which will serve bike commuters and recreational users.

We are working towards a more efficient train schedule to accommodate commuters in the south coast.

Mental Health

I am a board member of HopeNet of Carpinteria, a suicide prevention group, which has brought county mental health services to Carpinteria for the first time. This provides for individual confidential mental health counseling twice a month.

Also HopeNet of Carpinteria provides a general guide to all mental health resources within the county.

Our youth will benefit through my support for a skate park.

As your councilmember I will continue to provide support for our summer Jr. Guards program and maintenance of our sports fields for youth soccer, football and baseball/softball.

I feel it is important to advocate for sustaining our youth programs at the city pool.
