Peter Coe Verbica is a fifth-generation Californian, who learned the importance of a strong work ethic growing up on a cattle ranch.

Trained in business, real estate, law, and as a Certified Financial Planner®, he brings extensive professional experience to the Board of Equalization, which oversees 58 county assessors who value and tax property throughout California.  He currently serves as a Managing Director at Silicon Private Wealth and Viant Capital.

Peter understands that Californians want good-paying jobs, safe neighborhoods, housing for teachers and first responders, and high-quality schools.

As a volunteer, Peter has actively supported schools, military service men and women, youth ballet, the symphony, Asian-American culture, and California State Parks, including Henry Coe State Park, named after his great grandfather.  A father of four daughters, the oldest of whom served in the US Navy, Peter believes in service to one’s community and Country.  He is the former Chair of the Military Care Committee, which provided hundreds of care packages to US sailors and Marines.  

He is a graduate of Bellarmine, Santa Clara University, and MIT.  

He is a published author whose works appear in over 40 anthologies.  

Former President of the California Congress of Republicans, Peter Coe Verbica is part of the new, inclusive CAGOP — led by the accomplished Latina, Jessica Patterson.  

He is a member of Saint Francis Episcopal Church.  

Peter believes in a clear-eyed, efficient, and fair approach to governance and will bring a fresh perspective to this 143 year-old office.

Peter believes that current California government policies are driving businesses, such as Tesla, Oracle and HP, out of our state.  Peter believes that property rights should be strengthened.  Peter believes that parents should have a say in school curriculum.  Peter believes that charter schools provide competitive alternatives for the less fortunate.  Peter believes in meritocracy and equal treatment, versus unequal preferences based on one's race or ethnicity.  

Michela Alioto-Pier is a San Francisco native and small business owner with a long history of public service and a deep and personal commitment to the improvement of the lives of Californians.

Michela is a former two-term member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, during which time she represented the northern neighborhoods of the City. During her tenure, Michela emphasized job growth and economic development. She created the City’s Office of Economic Analysis, an office that she tasked with providing reports relating to the effects of proposed legislation on potential job growth and/or loss and other impacts on the San Francisco economy. She also created the position of City Economist to advise on job growth, created the City’s first Economic Plan focusing on job creation and development, passed the City’s first Biotech Payroll Tax Exemption, and created the first Film Rebate Program in the State of California, all of which were responsible for the creation of thousands of new jobs.

In addition to job growth, Michela also focused on health care, the environment, and women's issues. She was instrumental in saving St. Luke’s Hospital in the Mission District of San Francisco, a facility that primarily serves low-income, Latino, and Black residents. She prevented the Mirant Power Plant from rebuilding a fossil fuel-burning “peaker” plant in the primarily low-income Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco. Michela continually fought for the rights of women by passing a job-sharing program in the City, looking out for the rights of sex workers, and requiring the City to process all rape kits within 2 weeks.

Prior to her tenure on the Board of Supervisors, Michela served on the San Francisco Port Commission, where she oversaw the development, marketing, leasing, administration, and maintenance of the San Francisco waterfront (annual revenues at the time of over $54 million). Michela also served as a Director of the Golden Gate Bridge Board, the San Francisco Transportation Authority, the San Francisco Disaster Council, California State Legislative Committee, and most recently as a Governor Newsom appointee to the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (B.C.D.C.). Michela was a White House Deputy Domestic Policy Advisor to Vice President Al Gore and is a nationally-recognized disability rights advocate, having served as a member of the National Council on Disability’s Advisory Committee and the 1992 transition team for Health and Human Services. Michela broke her back in 1981 and has used a wheelchair since. Michela is a strong supporter of in-home attendant care services and programs that promote independent living and high quality of life for those with disabilities.

Michela comes from a family with a long and proud history of fishermen and businesses up and down the Northern California Coast and, since 1995, has been a grape grower and wine-maker in the Napa Valley. In 1996, Michela was elected as the Democratic nominee for the 2nd Congressional District for the northern Californian counties of Del Norte, Napa, Sonoma, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, and Solano.

Michela earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Los Angeles in Cultural Anthropology and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of San Francisco. Michela is also a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute.

Michela spends her time between San Francisco and St. Helena, CA. She has been married to Thomas Pier for the last 21 years and they have 3 children
