Josh Hoover is a candidate for the California State Assembly. A long-time Folsom resident, his family moved to the area from the Central Valley in 1999.

Josh serves as the Chief of Staff for California State Assemblyman Kevin Kiley, developing the Assemblyman’s annual legislative agenda and advising him on education issues. Throughout his time in the State Legislature, Josh has worked to put families first through his work to reform education, provide school choice, keep our neighborhoods safe, and make California more affordable.

As a school board member in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD), Josh led the fight to reopen schools in his community. As a result, FCUSD was the first district in Sacramento County to bring students back for in-person instruction. He also worked to balance the budget, protect taxpayers, expand mental health services, support school police officers, and improve student achievement.

As the father of a child on the autism spectrum, Josh cares deeply about the integration and outcomes of kids with special needs. For his work advocating for students throughout the pandemic, he was named Folsom’s Young Professional of the Year in 2020.

Josh earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and public policy from UCLA and a master’s degree in public administration from USC. He lives in Folsom with his wife Nicole and their three children Ayden, Addison, and Austin.

• I am a proud father of two beautiful children. I have an 8 year old son and a 4 year old daughter. I homeschool both of my kids. I am married to my best friend and companion of 17 years. We have lived in Sacramento our entire lives minus the few years spent living in Rocklin while attending Junior College at Sierra. I have a Bachelors Degree from California State University Sacramento in Communication Studies with a minor in Business Administration. I coached College level Baseball from 2014 to 2017 at Sacramento State as well. I am a small business owner. I am a staunch Constitutionalist who believes in maximum freedom. I love nature and enjoy spending as much time outdoors in my garden as possible. I have lots of pets. Dog, Cat, Chickens, and many fish. In my spare time I enjoy reading. I am incredibly saddened by the condition of our State and local areas. I want our community to remain flourishing yet provide a safe environment for those living with in it. 

I believe the Constitution is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, papers ever written. I believe everyone should have an equal justice. No free hand outs, but I believe all people should have the opportunity to succeed regardless of their Race, Religion, or creed. All Men are created equally and I believe our Founders set us up to achieve this goal. I believe strongly in the Bill of Rights and the Inalienable Rights we were given by God. I believe we need the 2nd Ammendment to protect ourselves from a tyrannical Government. We are a Country for the people by the people. I believe in strong borders. Low immigration numbers. Assimilation. I want medical freedom. Body autonomy. No forced vaccines to work or go to school.  I want to help our Veterans. Our Homeless. Our Children. End Human Trafficking. Over regulation. We need to lower taxes across the board. Hold people accountable. Work on water storage. End our dependence on the Fed. Stop spending endless amounts of money on projects that we know will not work. Like the bullet train.
