My Top 3 Priorities
1) Protect our air and water quality and natural environment. California must continue to be a leader in our global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change. I will advocate for ambitious climate goals
2. Promote policies that improve the quality of life of all Californians. This includes investing in public education, making sure our communities and neighborhoods are protected through traditional law enforcement and prevention programs.
3) Address our housing and homelessness crises. I will work to increase State support for the development of affordable housing and the necessary supportive services that will keep people housed.

I was the founding manager of the Santa Barbara County Association of Government's (SBCAG) Traffic Solutions program, promoting local green and sustainable transportation options. Later, I served as the Deputy Executive Director for SBCAG, supporting regional efforts to improve bus and passenger rail service and widen the 101 freeway. For twenty years, I owned and operated Transitions Preschool, a local, family business providing early-childhood education and quality childcare. I was appointed to the Santa Barbara City Planning Commission and elected to four terms on the Santa Barbara City Council. Governor Gray Davis appointed me to the California Coastal Commission, where I served from 2000-2004. In 2018, I was elected to a seat on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors.
