Education

University of California, Berkeley Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Chemical Engineering (1990)

Biography

I grew up in the South Bay during the 70's and 80's while the area was rapidly expanding into the tech giant it is known as today. I was inspired to study engineering in college and earned my B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley. I began my career with Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio as an Engineer designing consumer products in Research & Development. After several years, I moved back to California and worked at Clorox in the East Bay as a Scientist and Project Manager in R&D.

After my daughter was born, I decided to take some time off to be a full time Mom. During this time I served as a community volunteer for many years supporting local school and clubs. I recently served on the 2019-2020 Contra Costa Civil Grand Jury to provide local government oversight. This experience gave me an extensive overview of county and city government, as well as an understanding of the many problems our region faces.

I have lived in the East Bay with my husband and daughter for over 20 years and deeply love the Bay Area and the great state of California. I feel my experiences as an engineer and R&D manager, as well as a parent and community volunteer, have given me a unique perspective and prepared me in many ways to address some of our state's biggest problems.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

California needs a mix of perspectives to effectively solve problems. This balance is currently lacking in Sacramento. I will challenge the state legislature to achieve better results with a Strategic Plan for California:

  • Provide creative options for operating businesses and schools while minimizing health risks until an effective COVID-19 vaccine or cure is widely available
  • Update our infrastructure from outdated transportation and power models to systems that are reliable, safe, clean, efficient and more affordable
  • Focus on increasing choices and improving services while reducing costs for housing, healthcare, education, energy, water and transportation
  • Invest in new technologies and innovative approaches to address extreme fire risks in our state instead of allowing chaotic power shut-offs every year
  • Empower innovation in policing and fully staffing law enforcement to provide safety and exceptional service to the community while attracting highly qualified applicants to law enforcement
  • Establish metrics to track progress toward these goals
