Bridget Mahoney is a candidate for State Assembly District 22. She was born and raised in San Mateo County and has a lifelong interest and passion for public service. 

Bridget is grew up in a large Irish-Italian family and is the oldest of four sisters. Bridget’s favorite memories growing up all involve her sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles. When not at home in San Mateo, Bridget loves to spend time in Lake Tahoe with family and friends. 

Bridget attended St. Catherine of Siena grammar school, Notre Dame Belmont High School, and majored in History with a minor in Political Science at Sonoma State University. She earned a Master’s Degree from the University of San Francisco in Public Affairs and wrote her graduate capstone project on how ballot measures are an ineffective solution to San Francisco’s homeless crisis.

She is the Vice President for the Order of Malta, Western Association Auxiliary and was a founding member of the group. The Auxiliary’s mission is to be an extension of the Order of Malta’s commitment to serving the poor and the sick in their local communities. Bridget is a volunteer on a Young Professionals Board that raises money for an all girl’s Catholic high school, ICA Cristo Rey, located in the Mission District of San Francisco. Bridget was fortunate enough to receive a Catholic education and joined this volunteer board to help underserved young women receive the same quality education. 

Recently, Bridget was influential in reinstating the San Mateo County Young Republican charter and is currently serving as Vice Chair for the San Mateo County Young Republicans. 

Bridget believes she can be a voice for conservatives in San Mateo County. Issues in the district important to Bridget include lowering taxes on business and enhancing Prop. 13 tax benefits.  Bridget will support Law Enforcement and work to keep our public education among the best in the country. Bridget intends to focus on the housing shortage as well as the addiction and mental health issues that have left so many homeless. Finally, Bridget plans on working on bipartisan legislation that will address key areas of opportunity that our current infrastrastructure severely lacks.
