I recently served us from 2014 - 2018 as an elected Member and Chairperson of the State Board of Equalization where I represented residents of Southern California with regard to misapplied or unfair tax polcies, regulatory hurdles and assisted hundreds of businesses and individuals though educational workshops and direct contact. I previously served six years in the Legislature reprsenting the residents in the 73rd District, and was Mayor of the city of Dana Point. Prior to elelcted service I had a career spaning 30 years in banking and corporate finance. I hold a BA in Economics from UCI and have 1 adult daughter, who is a successful businesswoman. My private career, life experiences and elected service has prepared me to represent the people of this district with an honest, pragmatic and factual approach to governing and getting things done that will help improve our lives and protect our neighborhoods.
California is the Golden State with the most educated and diverse population in the country. .But working people and businesses are fleeing to other states due to government mandates and taxes that have created an increasingly difficult and expensive place to live and work for many. One size-fits all government mandates and policies flowing from Sacramento do not work for a diverse state of almost 40 million people. Southern California is not San Francisco; my goal is to ensure we that we endorse end support strong candidates to represent us at local and state level to ensure our voices are heard. With a ballooning state budget from the strong economy of the past decade we ought to be able to provide for public goods such as public safety, water, power, transportation and education without increasing taxes, debt and regulatory penalties on the people and businesses that make our state the economic powerhouse that it is.
Elaine Gennawey, has been committed to serving the people of Orange County since moving here 38 years ago. In 2004, in recognition of her dedication as a community volunteer, she was awarded the prestigious Laguna Niguel Citizen of the Year award. Elaine Gennawey has been a member of the Laguna Niguel Woman's Club for 34 years, and served as President twice. She is Past President of the Rotary of Club of Laguna Niguel and has been a member for 26 years. She is a Founding member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 281. Elaine is also a member, and past Board member, of Laguna Niguel Republican Women Federated, and a former Execiutive Board member of the National Association of Women Business Owners - Orange County.
Current Laguna Niguel City Councilmember, and 2018 Mayor, Elaine Gennawey is committed to prioritizing public safety and maintaing responsible fiscal policies and practices. In recognition of her commitment to these principals, she earned the endorsement of the OC Republican Party for both of her City Council elections, as well as the endorsements of the California Women's Leadership Association, the Lincoln Club, and the South Orange County Economic Coalition.
A strong advocate for small government, low taxes, and local control, Elaine Gennawey holds these as standards to evaluate support of policies and candidates. Policy positions, and the reasoning behind them, must be clearly communicated so the electorate understands why and how the Republican Party is striving to improve the lives of each and every person in our country. The ethical standards of the Republican Party need to be stated, clearly communicated, and all - whether elected, appointed, staffer, or anyone representing the Republican Party- must be held to a consistent standard.
We need to make room in "our tent" for the next generation; develop opportunities for meaningful participation. Our county, our country, and our childrens' future depends on it.
Shawn Gordon is an established leader with a wide and varied set of skills and experiences that make him uniquely qualified to address the interests of the residents and businesses of the 73rd District:
My philosphy is pretty simple:
* As little government as we can get away with
* Full disclosure of conflicts of interest and money
The pursuit of power for personal benefit is what is destroying our country, politicians need to live under the laws they create. To the extent that I can help get honorable people into office and shine a light on the corruption, then I want to do what I can to help and not wait for someone else to do it.
I have been an activist focused on internal reform for almost 18 years. I have watched the party sell out their base and cater to the large dollar donor class, and I have watched the party fail as a result. When elected, I will fight to reform the party by advocating for transparency, de-emphasizing the establishment influence, and focusing the party on the voter instead of the elected officials.
I am a libertarian leaning conservative republican, in that order. Republicans need to become the party of liberty over control if we hope to continue to be competitive in OC. We also need to be willing to look to ourselves as the source of our problems and be honest about real change.
Been in the real estate business for 20 years. I attended ASU for a couple of years before transferring to LaVerne College. I was a past President of the CRA chapter in South Orange County.
To create and revive the great Republican Party that strived to create opportunities for all families to prosper in whatever endeavor they chose. To make sure the party takes care of our seniors, our military, our unborn, our everyday hard working citizens that want to provide for themselves and family void of all incessive intrusions of the government in our lives.
