Biography
My name is Christina Griffin-Jones and I am running for San Diego County Democratic Central Committee, 80th Assembly District. I understand, deeply, that if one of us in our community is hurting, we all are. I am committed to lifting up and centering our most impacted and disenfranchised community members in every decision-making and voting space as a Central Committee Member. I was born and raised in San Diego, Chula Vista, and National City and have organized and lived in the 80th Assembly District my whole life. I have worked alongside notable community, social justice, labor, faith, and non-profit organizations in San Diego and have canvassed, phone banked and fundraised for a Democratic candidate in every election cycle since 2001. I believe the 80th Assembly District is a community of folks that know what our neighborhoods need. We know that we deserve someone representing us in our county party’s Central Committee who will be a voice that ensures the people, environment, and culture of our Assembly District are not forgotten about when environmental justice, access to mental health services, honoring indigenous communities and ending all forms of family separation conversations happen. I am that person.

Experience
Biography
I care about justice, integrity, and wisdom in how we operate in political spaces, because ultimately, our purpose is to serve and uplift one another. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the fight for greater justice, we temporarily lose sight of the humanity of others.
As the Vice Chair of the San Diego County Democratic Party for our area, I am willing to do the ongoing work to remind us of who we are, fundamentally, even as we at times disagree.
I raised two children mostly as a single parent (though it definitely takes a village!), and I spent most of those years living paycheck to paycheck. I get how hard it is to live in survival mode, and we need to work together to make sure we are uplifting the needs of others who are too busy getting through the basics of life to be politically active.
There is so much we can do to increase equity for all community members, and I am here for it.

Political Beliefs
Political Philosophy
I support Democrats who make our communities more just and safe for all, who support policies that create living wage jobs, equal access to education, and affordable housing.
Getting these leaders elected, showing up to support them at critical junctures, and mentoring and supporting newly engaged folks is critical to creating a just society.
Knowledge is a powerful resource, and sharing it is our responsibility to the youth who invigorate, inspire, and work in our community. I honor those elders who have laid the groundwork for greater justice, whose battles are too easily forgotten, and hold it as a duty to identify those things that connect rather than divide us.
There is always hope, as long as there are good people willing to do the work.

Questions & Answers
Questions from The League of Women Voters San Diego (LWVSD) and the League of Women Voters of North County San Diego (LWVNCSD) (3)
I have already been holding a similar position on the Central Committee since early 2019. I have an excellent attendance record for meetings, and I am highly engaged.
The most significant challenge facing our Party is letting other parties define who we are instead of having the courage and will to coalesce around a strong platform that seeks equity, supports the needs of the people, and builds opportunity for all of us to thrive. I am an outspoken advocate of maintaining integrity and fairness in seeking justice. I am not afraid to speak truth to power, and fight for those unable to fight for themselves.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt - He saw people in need and created a legislative response that has impact even today.
Lyndon B Johnson - Even knowing that he would pay a huge political price, he got the Civil Rights Act passed, because it was the right thing to do.
Stacy Abrams - When she lost her election, instead of disappearing, she started Fair Fight to push for the protection of voting rights for everyone.

Biography
Delfina is a mom, married with three children, small business owner, a Sweetwater Authority Citizens Advisory Committee member, a labor representative, and a board member of a Chula Vista non-profit rehabilitation center.
Delfina fights to reduce homelessness by creating “wrap around” services where homeless men and women and children could get a meal, housing, and back on their feet. She is responsible for feeding the homeless at Panera’s yearly Thanksgiving Lunch for 10-years. There is a lot left to do but Delfina is making a great difference by delivering results.
