I am born and raised in Vista, CA, where I also currently reside with my family. I graduated with a degree in Literature and Writing in 2004 from Cal State San Marcos. In 2001, I was afforded the opportunity to study a year abroad in Tuebingen, Germany in 2001. After a string of odd jobs after college, in 2005, I was given an opportunity to learn how to tattoo. Tattooing over the past 15 years allows me to have a flexible schedule, has given me opportunity to travel nationally and internationally. It has also given me an intimate glimpse into the lives of so many people, from all walks of life.

In 2011, I began producing community art events which has evolved into a small arts non-profit, The Backfence Society. One of our programs, Only Losers Litter, is a monthly performance art gathering where we put on super hero capes and clean up litter. 

I served as the Chair to the Public Arts Commission from 2015-2019. I am currently involved on the Board of Directors through the Vista Chamber of Commerce and have been nominated as Business Person of the Year for the Heroes of Vista Annual Gala. I also serve as Vice President of the downtown Vista association, Discover Vista, hosting events and gathering community.

I joined the Vista Democratic Club in 2018. I briefly entered the race for Vista Mayor in 2018, but ended up stepping back due to personal reasons that made me take a pause and instead helped two candidates in their races for Vista City Council. Councilmember Corinna Contreras won her seat and it gives the neighborhoods, I have lived in my entire life, a compassionate and forward thinking leader; I also worked with candidate/community advocate Tazheen Nizam who planted a seed in the conservative leaning District 4 of Vista with her campaign. I am volunteering and donating to Katie Melendez candidate for Vista City Council District 3.

Last year, I also joined the San Diego Progressive Democratic Club and was elected as the Vice Chair of the North Chapter. The main club endorsed Bernie and I feel accomplished because I came to that meeting to share my personal story and contribute to that decision.

Professionally, Rob Howard is currently a Certified Operator for Southern California Edison at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS).  Rob works in the work control department developing and implementing work control packages intended to ensure plant maintenance and surveillances are performed safely.

Rob has over 30 years experienc in the nuclear energy field.  Rob is currently a Human Rights Advisor for the Utility Workers Union of America AFL-CIO. As a Human Rights Advisor for the Utility Workers Union of America, Rob works with his national union to provide various training for a number of members in the technical trades including positions in water, electric, nuclear and gas utilities.   Rob is a member of the California Public Utility Commission’s Diversity Council, working to improve diversity within the utilities in the areas of employment, procurement and philanthropy and governance.

Rob serves as the president of the Utility Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO, Local 246.  Rob is responsible for the day to day operations of the local.

Rob has certifications in Human Resource Management and in Certified Financial Planning from the University of California Irvine.

My political Philosophy is that everyone has value.  My faith teaches me that if we embrace the opportunity to learn about others, help when needed, and listen for understanding, we grow individually and collectively.  Unity is powerful and it works.  The Democratic Party can be a beacon of light for all communities when we are not afraid to grow. 

I'm a 23-year-old college student, youth organizer, and a proud gay man. I was born to active-duty military parents, a Marine father and an Airman mother, and grew up right here in North County. I moved around a lot being a military brat, but my family moved back to Camp Pendleton in 2008 and finally settled down in Oceanside. I went on to graduate from Vista High School in 2015 and enrolled at MiraCosta College in 2016 to study East Asian Studies.

It was at MiraCosta that I started to get involved in politics and realized that young people could actually make a difference. I founded the Democrats of MiraCosta College and started interning and volunteering for our local Democratic candidates. Since then, I've turned youth organizing into my full time passion and was elected South State Regional Director for the California Young Democrats and President of the North County Young Democrats. I'm proud of the work I've accomplished these past couple years mentoring and engaging young people, including founding Democratic clubs at six colleges and four high schools.

Looking back on my life, I'm incredibly grateful to have had the role models and influences I did. My father taught me the importance of serving others and the duty we have to our country. My mother taught me the importance of humility, forgiveness, and compassion. Those values were pretty sorely tested though growing up as a young, autistic, gay boy in a working-class community. I saw more injustice and cruelty at the hands of ignorant people and politicians than any kid should ever have to see. I could have walked away from all of that bitter and disillusioned. Instead I became even more determined to live by the values my parents taught me and the teachings of my Jain faith.

It's why I became a Democrat when I turned 18.

It's why I put compassion at the heart of my political philosophy.

And it's why I fight for equity, justice and progress every day.

Michael (Mike) Bullock is 2nd Vice President of the Democratic Club of Carlsbad and Oceanside (DEMCCO) and a twice-elected member of the San Diego County Democratic Party Central Committee. He has authored resolutions that were adopted by DEMCCO, the Central Committee, and the California Democratic Party (CDP). He has authored 9 important policy statements that are now part of the CDP's Platform, which is the official policy of the CDP. They are based on his system engineering work regarding transportation and our climate crisis.

His paper deriving a set of enforceable measures to ensure that California cars and trucks would achieve a critial 2030 climate-stabilizing target was presented to the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA) in 2016. He presented a car-parking policy report at an AWMA Conference in 2010 and presented on the topic of Climate and Car-Parking Policy at the “Towards Carless Cities” conference in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2012. He is scheduled to speak at the Energy-Utility-Environment Coference (EUEC) this April, in San Diego.

A former President of the Silicon Valley Bicycle Association, Mike also edited their newsletter for over 10 years. Mike has a BSEE from Lamar University and a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso. He worked as a satellite systems engineer during most of his 36 years in the aerospace industry, where his work included systems integration, systems requirements verification, and the on-orbit estimation and compensation of antenna misalignments. He presents on climate and transportation locally, is married, a cyclist, and a Masters Swimmer, with two daughters and 4 grandchildren.

I see myself as a progressive institutionalist. Policies must be based on facts and reputable research. I work for the values shown in my "Priorities" listed above. I am interested in the ideas of others, especially of the Democrats in the 76th Assembly District, since I strive to work for their interests. When candidates come before our Central Committee for posible endorsement, I do my homework before they appear, by looking at their website. If their website fails to mention our anthropogenic (man made)climate change crisis, I will contact them to ask them to please consider correcting what I see as a significant error. Endorsement are to a large degree about getting the best Democrats elected.

After the shocking election of Trump, I read Man Without a Face about how Trump destroyed democracy in Russia and Facts and Fears, by James Clapper that quantified the Russian interferecnce in our election.  

I'm employed by Accenture, working in the Applied Intelligence group.  We focus on Big Data and Analytics applications. 

My political activity is centered in Carlsbad California and am a volunteer working on environmental and other community interests.

After entering politics in 2008 to support Barack Obama, I ran for the Tri-City Hospital Board of Directors in 2014 and Carlsbad City Council in 2016.

I serve as a Carlsbad City Mobiity and Traffic Safety Commission.

I have served on the Grants committee of the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation and am a lifetime member of the NAACP.

I am past President of the Democratic Club of Carlsbad and Oceanside and was a founder of the Oak Tree Democrats (https://www.oaktreedems.org/).

I am currently Secretary of the North Area Caucus and a Central Committee Alternate.

Luke Tesluk (Community Organizer/Student) has a passion for engaging voters about issues affecting them. He currently serves as a Central Committee Alternate and is a delegate to the California Democratic Party for AD 76. He has been interested in politics since the fifth grade and has been actively participating in the San Diego political scene since he was a teenager. Luke wrote a well-received manual for delegates on ways to enact change in the state party, and he was recently appointed to the CDP’s Voter Services committee. He was a founder of the North County Young Democrats in 2018 and is an active member of the Democratic Club of Carlsbad and Oceanside. He advised several North County campaigns and was the Data Manager for Flip the 49th, an organization instrumental in electing Mike Levin to Congress in 2018. Apart from his involvement in local politics, he is currently taking classes towards a Library Science certification at Palomar College.  Luke enjoys watching all the movie releases in theatres and on Netflix. He enjoys writing and runs a blog covering film and entertainment.  He also co-hosts a podcast called "That's Entertainment”.  He is always ready to discuss entertainment and pop culture, along with the latest news in politics and his favorite movie is The Empire Strikes Back.

I’m a Democrat who works to empower people to make a difference, whether it’s someone fighting for healthcare, for education reform, or who simply wants to be more involved in politics.

I was born into a working class family and raised in a suburb just outside of Chicago on the city’s South Side.  I attended Illinois State University where I received my Degree in Political Science and was elected to lead the Model Illinois Government organization, an organization of nearly 20 colleges and 300 students. Later, I would go on to obtain his Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Organizational Development from National University.

I moved to San Diego in 2011 where my passions for community involvement and change were reignited. In 2012 I began working to help re-elect President Obama and help elect Scott Peters to 52nd Congressional District. In 2013 I worked as a Volunteer Coordinator for David Alvarez during his bid for Mayor of San Diego. Later that year I was accepted into a Fellowship with The San Diego LGBT Community Center and their Young Professional Counsel, which is designed to educate and engage future community leaders in the LGBTQ community and the allies that support them.

More recently I have been an active member with the San Diego Young Democrats, North County Young Democrats, Vista Democratic Club, Rancho Santa Fe Democratic Club, Escondido Young Democratic Club, and the Democratic Club of Carlsbad and Oceanside. In 2018 I worked to get voters engaged for the down ballot races by knocking on doors to help educate citizens about those issues and to help elect Governor Newsom. In 2019 I took part in the Vista Leadership Academy, where I received an up close look at how the city functions, while gaining experience on the inner working of our communities.

My goal on the Democratic Party Central Committee would be to strengthen the base of the Democratic Party through strong voter engagement, reaching out to the forgotten members of our communities, and engaging our youth at the high school level.

I understand that we need to elect leaders that want to create legitimate transit options, instead of building on top of our already congested roads and highways. Leaders that are willing create programs that will that will address real issues that help and house our homeless population. Individuals that will work with the county, state, and federal government to find affordable and free healthcare options for all of our citizens, especially those who can’t afford insurance.

I also believe in finding green energy solutions so that we can combat climate change and protect our communities, coastline, natural resources and state parks, for all of our future generations.
Most importantly, I want to provide a seat for everyone at our table, so that we can all prosper here in the 76th Assembly District and beyond.

Kyle Krahel was born and raised in Oceanside. He graduated valedictorian from El Camino High School and went on the earn a degree in Government from Harvard University.

I was born in Chicago of an Irish-Scotch mother and a Russian-Polish Jewish father.  Quite a mixed bag. However, both were political activists and members of the American Socialist Party, thus making me a legitimate “red diaper baby”.   It was not until I was about nine or ten years old, that I realized not everyone used their living room to store “picket signs.”  My activist upbringing was probably responsible for my tendency to become a discipline problem in elementary school.  In fact, it was suggested to my parents that they find an alternative educational venue for me.  They sure did!   I spent the third and fourth grade with the good nuns at “Lady Help a Christian” Catholic school--probably the only time in my life when I was not being talkative and disruptive.  My father retired from the Chicago School system and we moved to California, settling in the bay area.  After my graduation from High School in Redwood City, I attended Stanford University.  Upon my graduation in 1962, I moved to Oceanside where I was offered my first, and as it turned out my only, teaching position at Oceanside High School where I taught Civics, and developed an award winning community involvement curriculum in 1972. From 1984 to 2002 I served as the library media specialist and Debate Coach.                                                                                                                                          Since my retirement I have devoted my time to a part time job at the Dove Library and numerous political and social volunteering.   As a cancer survivor I work closely with local support groups to mentor newly diagnosed cancer patients.  For over 60 years I have been a political activist for social justice. From advocating for peace, to fighting racism, to immigrant rights, to ending the judicial injustice of police brutality  that has claimed so many young lives in our County , to labor. I walked my first picket line with my activist father when I was 9 years old and most recently walked with the Unite Here  hotel workers last year when they were striking against the Westgate Hotel in San Diego.                                                                                                                                           My desire to be CCmember is quite simple.  I would like to challenge the present party’s commitment to party cronyism.  It is time to take back the party of FDR that committed itself to bettering the human condition

I'm a Progressive Democat who beleives we need community engagment and raise our standards of livng for our children.  I will never be a moderate with Healhcare Rights. 

I have spent my life working to help people.  First, I was a health care professional then I became a teacher of community college students pursuing health care professions and finally, I  became a teacher of students with severe disabilities in high school.  I received the appropriate master’s degrees to enable me to teach in the health professions and in Special Education.

Activism has always been part of who I am.  During my working years, I worked with professional organizations for the improvement of the professions such as licensing for Respiratory Care Practitioners; I was active in the unions representing me in the teaching fields including the AFT/CFT and CTA; and finally, I supported candidates and the California Democratic Party as a delegate.  Upon retiring with 28 years of fulltime teaching service in the California Public Schools, I increased my activism by becoming an active member of the Democratic Club of Carlsbad Oceanside and a lead for Obama’s Organizing for Action.  I am currently the President of the Democratic Club of Carlsbad Oceanside.  I have served as an Associate (non-voting) member of the San Diego County Democratic Central Committee for the past year because of my position as President of a chartered Democratic club.

As a lifelong Democrat, I have always supported the tenets of the Democratic Party.  Climate change is an existential threat requiring big changes in the way we live and a commitment by everyone to do their part.  Health care is a human right that must be available to everyone at no or low cost.  Medicare for all is a good idea.  Education is also a right of all Americans who want it and it should be easily accessible and affordable.  Economic inequality including the inequality of tax burdens threatens to destroy what we know as the American way of life.  This must be addressed immediately!  Immigrants, people of all religions, women, people of all gender identities, etc. are to be respected and valued the same as anyone else.  It is the right of all Americans to practice their religion or have no religion without any interference from others.  A woman has a right to choose her own reproductive health care.  Laws regarding immigration must be fair, without bias and enforced equally. 

I support the Democratic Party because it is the party that most closely represents my views.  While there are improvements that should be made, I am committed to working with my fellow Democrats to ensure that these are done.  Elected officials are responsible to represent their constituents.  If I am elected to the Democratic Central Committee, I will reach out to my constituents for their input and represent them accordingly.  All views should be respected, and we should focus on what we can agree on.  Lastly, the infusion of new ideas and new people are important to keep the party vibrant and current.

As a native of North County San Diego, Megan Ley decided to run for Central Committee to advocate for progressive policy. Due to her passion for social issues, she has been organizing her community since the 2018 Election cycle and is currently serving as the North Chapter Chair of the San Diego Progressive Democratic Club. Ms. Ley believes in fairness, equity, and freedom and wants to live in a society where socioeconomic barriers are removed so everyone has the ability to reach their full potential.

Having gained firsthand experience by working in the legal and judicial fields, she understands the importance of ensuring our civil liberties, fighting against discriminatory practices, and reforming our criminal justice system.

Other issues that are near and dear to her heart include Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, Housing for All, ending endless wars, and the expansion of Social Security.
