Biography

Brandon Baranco, a lifelong Democrat, was born and raised in Oakland, California and is a product of Oakland Public schools. 

 

He most recently served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Oakland City Councilmember Sheng Thao. Brandon was tasked with managing the Councilmember’s legislative and policy agenda, budget priorities, and community relations. He previously served in Assemblymembers' Nancy Skinner and Tony Thurmond’s offices. Brandon was tasked with managing community and government relations in Alameda County, including the cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville, and Piedmont.

He currently serves as an Associate to the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee and is serving his third term as Delegate to the California Democratic Party appointed by Congresswoman Barbara Lee. Brandon was the youngest member to serve on the City of Oakland Budget Advisory Commission.

Brandon graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and a Minor in History from the University of California at Merced and holds a Masters in Public Policy from Mills College in the City of Oakland.
