Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (5)

What financing method(s) would you support to repair or improve roads, rails, ports, airports, the electrical grid and other infrastructure in the U.S.?
Answer from Sal Genovese:

Taxpayers pay a lot of taxes for various services, repairs, as well as improvements.  There is far too much waste and cost over-runs, without any over-sight of tax dollars being spent.  I will be asking for audits of tax dollars being spent for repairs to improve roads, rails, and etc., as well as other infrastructure, and to make sure that funding for projects are on budget, and within reasonable cost.  Also I will hold all Departments accountable for tax dollars being spent on all projects using Government funds.  To help fund projects, for I am not in favor of any new taxes, I will propose that 1% of federal income tax collected, and 1% of local property tax paid be ear-marked for repairs and improvements of all infrastructure projects.

Question 2

What programs or legislation, if any, would you support to help Americans of all ages secure affordable health care?

No answer provided.
Question 3

Describe an immigration policy that you would support if presented to the House.

No answer provided.
What programs or legislation would you support to meet the water needs of Californians and the federal water project infrastructure in California?
Answer from Sal Genovese:

To deal effectively with the on going water needs of California, especially Southern California, we need to invest in building new dams, reservoirs, and catch-basins, to capture rain water during the rainy season, for storage to be used during the dry seasons of little rain, as well as during the years there are droughts.  Millions of gallons of water run-off into the ocean each rainy season that can be captured and stored for future use during dry or drought periods.  Funding for these projects can come out of the General Fund, as well as from the State income tax collected, about 2%, for funding new dams, reservoirs, and catch-basins.

According to a "Civility In America” survey, 75% of Americans believe that the U.S. has a major civility problem. If you are elected what will do to address this?
Answer from Sal Genovese:

We are a very divided Nation, and our hatred will only destroy us, however, our differences will lead us to solutions when we embrace compromise.  I as a moderate Democrat; I'm willing to work with Republicans and others in Congress to do the people's business, for that is what the residents of our Districts sent us to Congress for.  I want what is best for our Country, our families, and especially for our children, for I will work to bridge the differences, and respect those that I may not always agree with, for I want to set a positive example for others to follow, in order to end our division and hatred.  Together We Can Build New Bridges of Common Understanding.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I am a moderate Democrat, but first and foremost I am an American, and like you I want what is best or our Country, our families, and especially for our children.  Our division and hatred will only destroy us, however, our differences will lead us to solutions when we embrace compromise.

Together We Can Build New Bridges Of Common Understanding, to find solutions to end Gun Violence, especially in our schools; reform Immigration policies; provide better services for our Veterans; aid the Homeless; reduce College Tuition; and to be sure that we leave generations yet unborn, a safe and clean environment, in a World of Peace.

I will represent the people of our district, not special interest or big business, and will be the first Congressman in our Nation, to have monthly Town Hall meetings, with my "Community Awareness Program (CAP)," that will discuss concerns and issues, as well as polices to be addressed in Congress, for positive solutions.

Position Papers

Small Business & Employment Act

Will help small Business stay in business, and will create jobs, as well as develop Job Training Programs.

The "Small Business & Employment Act," will cut payroll taxes, reduce business operating cost and fees, and provide tax credits for every new Employee hired.  My proposal will also create Job Training Progams, and Vocational Educational Programs in High Schools, as well as will develop Public Work's Projects.

Armenian Genocide Day of Remembrance

After 103 years the Armenian people have waited long enough to have the Armenian Genocide recognized.

My Bill the "Armenian Genocide Day of Remembrance," will recognize the Armenian Genocide, to honor and secure justice for genocide-era vitims and their families that will be observed every April 24th.

Fair Education & College Act

Education in our Nation should always be a top issue and concern in regards to our children, and future generations yet un-born, as well as school safety.

I will introduce my Bill the "Fair Education & College Act," which will keep our teachers in the classrooms, and will end gun violence in our schools.  My Act will also lower College tuition, and make available to College students a 1% loan rate, as well as will convert current student loans to 1%.  This proposal will also have funding for Vocational Educational Training Programs in High Schools, with partnerships with State Educational Systems.
