Las 3 prioridades principales

  • Be fiscally responsible - the city is financially fragile and bad decisions will put us back into bankruptcy. The current administration has already approved $1 million in permanent expenditures; we have a projected $7 million deficit coming.
  • Increase public safety: We need to incorporate a real community policing strategy and help make the department competitive in salary and benefits to draw in experienced officers.

Biografía

History: I have been a resident of the City of San Bernardino and the 3rd Ward for the last 7 years.

Education: I hold a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Cal State San Bernardino in Public Administration. I am currently working to complete my Doctorate in Public Policy at the University of La Verne.

Real Experience: I worked for the City of San Bernardino for 4 years during the bankrutcy; I started as an Intern and was later hired on full-time. During my time there I was in charge of hiring our City Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Water and Public Works employees. I revamped the hiring process for the Police Department and took it from a 9 month recruting process to 2 months allowing us to hire Police Officers faster. I transitioned the department to 99% paperless and computerized the testing process. I was brought up to the City Manager's Office where I managed the Emergency Shelter Grant Program and the Community Development Block Grant Program.

I worked for the City of Redlands as a Public Relations Manager for the Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department. Providing the public with transpatent and accurate information about capital improvement programs. I also worked on grants applications and a SMART City initiative.

I worked for the City of Riverside in thier Human Resouces Department also hiring for their Police Department.

I worked for the City of Norco in the Economic Development Department and was charged with reaching out to corporations and business to build the city's industry.

I worked for the Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce and supported the local business district with marketing and public outreach.

Filosofía política

I believe in independent candidates who align with policies and not people.

I am tired of the old San Bernardino politics! Bought and paid for candidates who following personal agendas and not the People's.

The decisions of a city council have fast and long lasting effects, these seats need to be held by people who care, not by those who want to run for a higher office and are willing to step on the people they serve to get there.

How I Plan to Move the City Forward

Summary

San Bernardino is in a rebuilding phase, we need real plans in place to move us away from the bankruptcy and into the future.

I have longed believed that what you put into your community is what you get out of it and when you have the opportunity and ability to invest, serve and effect change for the better you do it! As a resident of the 3rd Ward of San Bernardino for the last 7 years, a graduate of Cal State San Bernardino and a former City employee, I am fully invested, ready to serve and ready to bring positive changes to our city.

The first positive change I would bring is solid leadership. I want to work cohesively with the Mayor and Council to create lasting policies that will serve all of us for years to come while building consensus and developing unity among the elected. I have always said, Council members have ideas, but it is the Council that makes the plan. I will take that philosophy with me into each meeting and work together to make plans that better all residents.

My second positive change would be to fix our roads and implement a pavement management plan throughout the city. Using existing city funds to fix the potholes, replace old water lines that are leaking and pave our roads. This plan would vastly expand the scope of the current CIP program and allow us to invest into our aging water infrastructure.

Third, I want to hire more local Police Officers by developing a Cadet-to-Career mentorship program in our local high schools. This program will guide students who want a career in law enforcement through the process so they can achieve their goals!

Fourth combat homelessness throughout the City by applying for all grant opportunities, while working with local non-profits and legislators to create a real plan. The dynamics of homelessness in our city is multifaceted and requires a comprehensive and tangible approach that will produce will real results.

I plan on doing all of this while most importantly being fiscally responsible; holding the City accountable for their expenses. Making sure we are keeping up with our yearly audits, utilizing City workers first instead of outside contractors and developing a clear vision of how to remain financially solvent so we never go bankrupt again.
