STREETS AND MEDIANS

The Town should continue to adequately fund street maintenance. Our street conditions have improved, but we need to do much more work on the medians (planted center spaces) on Sir Francis Drake and Red Hill Avenue. The Town has started a master plan for medians, and it will need to be implemented and properly funded. I am a member of the Town’s Capital Programs Monitoring Committee where the Town’s work on these types of projects is overseen.

FLOOD CONTROL

The Town should continue to move forward on the Ross Valley flood protection plan adopted in Flood Zone 9. Difficult decisions will need to be made about the right balance between the level of flood protection called for in the current flood plan versus the level of changes that the community will accept to downtown buildings and bridges in order to achieve an effective level of protection. These decisions will need to be made over the next several years. I have been a member of the Town’s Flood Committee since my election in 2013 and am currently its chair.

COMMUNITY FACILITIES

The Town should move forward on approval and implementation of a master plan for Memorial Park. The Park needs extensive renovation. There has been a community-wide process to develop a master plan for over a year, and there will need to be a process to build community consensus to implement and properly fund it. I am a liaison from the Town Council to the Memorial Park Community Advisory Board that has overseen the master plan development process and will continue to be active to move the plan forward.

KEEPING SAN ANSELMO FAMILY-FRIENDLY

The Town should continue to support a quality recreation program and the sharing of services and facilities with our local schools. Currently, for example, the Town shares use of the Red Hill Field with Drake High School. I led the years-long effort to build that field.

KEEPING SAN ANSELMO BUSINESS-FRIENDLY

The Town should continue to work with merchants to promote community events, local shopping and downtown improvement.  I am a liaison from the Town Council to the Town’s Economic Development Committee that serves as a forum for communication between the business community and Town staff on ways for the Town to help promote business activities in the Town. I will continue to work on the EDC and the Council to address storefront vacancies and encourage new businesses.
