As an educator, mother of twin sons, community advocate, former Compton College student, and life-long Compton resident, I am running to serve as a Compton Community College District Trustee, to maintain its legacy of educational excellence and community empowerment.

My first memory of Compton Community College dates back to elementary school when I took weekly gymnastics courses with a host of neighborhood kids. As we tumbled and kid back bends, we learned and played together as a diverse community. Following years of such offerings, my next journey at Compton Community College came as a Compton High School student as a participant of the Med-Core program, which allowed high school students from various local districts, including Torrance, Long Beach, Palos Verdes, and Lakewood, to take college-level math, science, and English courses alongside college students as we prepared to enter the medical and science professions. It was during this amazing program, that I first experienced outstanding   professors who created rigorous and engaging learning environments, while instilling a love for learning! After two challenging, yet insightful years in the program, I graduated Compton High School a year early and became a college student at 16.

While intellectually prepared, both socially and culturally my University experience was daunting and I experienced many ups and downs. After a few years of dropped classes, frustration, and questioning my abilities, I remembered my academic foundation, and through spiritual guidance, I got back on track and successfully went on to pursue my education and ultimately become a college professor!

As a product of Compton Community College’s legacy, I recognize the fundamental importance of a quality education and equitable access, which is why I want to serve as your Compton Community College Trustee!

Filosofía política

My political philosophy is centered on the notion of community engagement and grassroots empowerment. All forms of political service should seek to strengthen and uplift one's community through advocacy, policy initiatives, and civic engagement. Engaging core constituencies and stakeholders, all those seeking political office should have proven record of diligent work and commitment to those they seek to represent. As a life-long resident of Compton, and a committed Community Advocate I am seeking to become a Compton Community College Board Trustee becasue as an educator I have direct experience in curricula design, culturally excellent pedagogy, evidence-based research, and a demonstrated understanding of the value of student, staff and faculty engagement.
