Raul Cedillo was born in Tampico, Mexico. He came to the United States with his parents at a young age. Raul faced many challenges like learning a new language and assimilating the customs of his new home. He grew up in the Coachella Valley. His father worked days and nights, usually as many as three jobs. That sacrifice his father made had a profound effect and influence on his work ethic. Despite all the work, the family never lived a life of luxury but had just enough to be thankful. Seeing his mother and father's efforts to put food on the table made him self-reliant.
While attending college, his mother was in a car accident, which made her unable to work. He decided to drop out of college and help the family cover medical costs and housing costs.
During the recession of 2008, he moved to Texas in search of new opportunities. He found work quickly but still struggled financially. He lived in a small trailer with no heat or electricity, and he could only afford to eat once a day.
In 2010, Raul returned to California and soon after met his now-wife while visiting Long Beach. They have been together ever since and now raise a family together in Long Beach.
The past 12 years he was an unpaid minister, he has worked with non-profits and in the financial sector. Raul has worked tirelessly in service to others, which is the true purpose of a public servant. Today he continues his work serving others as a substitute teacher. He is also pursuing his Masters of Business Administration Degree full time.
