My Top 3 Priorities
Transparency: through good information governance and open data initiatives. I will advocate for closing the data divide while taking into account cyber security.
Access: I will make city records, services and information more accessible to our residents by modernizing the city website, ensuring ADA and section 508 compliance, providing an easy-to-use platform and information in different languages.
Voter Empowerment: I will increase voter registration drives and voter engagement. I will advocate for all eligible voters to be able to fully participate in the electoral process.
Experience
Biography
Glendale is the city where I was raised and the city where I have chosen to raise my family. Following my graduation from Glendale High School, I attended Occidental College where I attained a B.A. in Mathematics and an M.A. in Mathematics Education. After teaching in K-12 for a number of years, I pursued a Ph.D. in Education from UCLA and worked/taught in higher education (UCLA, LMU and Occidental College) for twelve years. In 2018, I made the transition back to K-12 and worked as an administrator at the Orange County Department of Education for several years. Currently I am the Secondary Mathematics Specialist at GUSD. In addition to my educational career, I was elected to the school board in South Pasadena -the city where I lived prior to returning to Glendale. During my six-year tenure on the school board, I served as the School Board Clerk and eventually as the School Board President. I was named Congressional Woman of the Year by Rep. Judy Chu.

I also am a strong proponent of racial, environmental, gender, economic and social justice and LGBTQ rights. I want to help build a world that provides a sustainable and dignified life for all, including refugees and immigrants. I believe that women's bodies and reproductive choices should not be regulated by the state or anyone other than themselves.
