My Top 3 Priorities

  • Housing and homelessness: We should eliminate single family only housing. Exclusionary zoning has a racist past. Multi-family zoning throughout the city will create housing that is available to people from all walks of life, not just the affluent.
  • Reimagining policing: OPD’s priority should be protecting the community from violent crime. We need to fund the city’s departments better suited to address mental illness, drug addiction and homelessness, among other critical services.
  • Equity in education: When we support a child's education beginning in preschool, we are building a better future for our entire community. A child who is fed is ready to learn, so we must support food and nutrition for children in all our schools.

Pepperdine University BA, Broadcast Journalism and Spanish (current)

A third-generation Californian and proud Latina, Steph Dominguez Walton is the product and champion of California public school education. Waitressing to pay her way through college, Steph attended Foothill College, San Jose State University, and eventually earned a degree from Pepperdine University in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Spanish. She worked in the radio and television industry for over 25 years, where she was consistently a top performer because of her drive and innate ability to work with others. For eight years, Steph produced and co-hosted the syndicated Lady Brain Show.

Steph is a 2019 graduate of Emerge, a national organization that trains aspiring Democratic women leaders to run and win elected office.

A long-time resident of Oakland, Steph is proud to be raising her two kids with her husband, environmental attorney Zack Walton, in this unique and dynamic city that she loves.
