I am the daughter of two immigrants from India. My father, an engineer, came to the US to fulfill the American Dream. My upbringing gave me an understanding of the difficulties a working-class family faces. I became an attorney to fight for the average person and worked for more than eleven years as a public defender and legal aid attorney. My work and my husband’s career as a heart surgeon, gave me insight into the struggle people face accessing quality health care and the impact health care costs have on peoples’ lives.
I have been a strong voice for my clients – whether it is a health insurance coverage problem, garnishment of a paycheck due to medical bills, a disability benefits issue, or obtaining special education services for children. I have seen health care from the patient’s side.
Health care is a right, not a privilege. Our community hospital must expand insurance acceptance and services so that residents are not denied necessary treatment or forced to travel to UCSF or Stanford.
I have been practicing in the Tri-City community for the last six years and in 2020 was voted one of the four best attorneys in Fremont. I am the only candidate endorsed by the Alameda County Democratic Party and the Tri-Cities Democratic Forum.
I will be your voice. I am committed to meeting with you on regular basis, not just at election time. This is not just a campaign statement but will be the reality of my representation. Your voice has tremendous power. Together we can bring about change and an improvement in medical services and increased transparency at Washington Hospital.
I am my clients’ voice in the courtroom. With your vote and support on November 3rd, I will be your voice in the boardroom.
