My Top 3 Priorities
Funding for teachers and students by continuing to advocate for our district at state level and involving the community in more meaningful ways.
Advocacy: A necessary voice to speak up for our students, teachers, and students and listen and involve them in a more meaningful way.
Fair Opportunities: All schools should have access to same extra-curricular choices. As a highly performing district we need to remember and include all students and provide opportunities for all to thrive, including students who struggle.
Experience
Education
Brigham Young University — Juris Doctor, MA, BA, JD from Brigham Young University; MA French Language Acquisition; BA French and History Teaching (2000)
Biography
My educational background is teaching and law. I earned a teaching degree for secondary education in French and History, taught French 101 and 102 at Brigham Young University, and earned a Masters in French Language Acquisition where I created a new curriculum for a language training center as part of my research. I then earned a law degree, passed the Utah Bar, worked briefly until I chose to use my time and talents in devotion to raising my children and serving my community. I have done and continue to do this, even after I started taking cases as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Investigator. My legal training and work as an EEO investigator have prepared me to understand legal documents and contracts and be prepared to ask the right questions and focus on the relevant information necessary to make the best and most informed decisions as a board member. My experience with teaching and curriculum development grant me a perspective to see what our schools do well for our students and where we can improve. In addition to my work as an EEO investigator, I spend my time serving our community. I led Questa School Foundation as President for 3 years, coached baseball, flag football, and soccer at various times, and held a seat on the Mountain House Little League board from 2009-2013. I currently hold seats on the Mountain House Flag Football Board, LUSD Measure L tizens Bond Oversight Committee (as Chairperson), MHHS Athletic Booster Club President, and SOMOHO, where we founded the Jingle All the Way 5K fundraiser for our schools and created Little Libraries. I have met thousands of community members through my service and value the commitment to well-rounded education in our community. If elected, I will continue to devote my energy to the needs and goals of our growing district and lead in a manner that includes and represents all stakeholders.
