Founder, East Palo Alto Neighbors (2017–current)

I moved to East Palo Alto in 2009, when we bought a house on Mandela Court. My wife, Fabiola, and I have a son in the fourth grade, and two dogs. I’m originally from Wisconsin and graduated from Marquette University with a degree in History. I lived in Guadalajara, Mexico after college, where I learned to speak Spanish. I am self-employed, and recruit software engineers for Silicon Valley tech companies. When I am not working or spending time with my family, I spend my time walking my dogs on the Bay, road biking, or playing music with my band.

I am active in the East Palo Alto community in multiple ways.  I’ve organized a variety of events in the last few years, including “Halloween in the Park,” the candidate election forum at St Mark AME Zion in 2018, and community meetings at the YMCA about a variety of issues:  parking problems,  Ravenswood School Board, and Bay Trail closures due to JPA activity. I am currently on the Mandela Estates HOA board and led the effort ten years ago to bring it back to financial solvency after years of neglect.  I created the Facebook group “East Palo Alto Neighbors,” which as of December 2019 has over 3,700 members. Multiple groups and individuals use this group for a wide range of activities: publicizing events and volunteer opportunities, reuniting lost dogs with their owners, job openings, discussing local issues, sharing EPA news stories, and finding local contractors and service providers.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

We need a Sanitary District which has core values of technical competency, transparency, fairness, financial responsibility, and honesty.I will be an independent, fair minded voice on the Board. East Palo Alto residents need to have a Sanitary District that is transparent, fair, equitable, and honest whether they are building an ADU, applying for a job, or bidding on a contract.
