Emily Cole is a candidate for Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles County, Seat 76. Emily has spent the last 13 years serving the County as a Deputy District Attorney. She prosecutes sex crimes, protecting women, children, and the elderly. Previously, Emily has served throughout Los Angeles County handling domestic violence, homicides, stalking, and elder abuse cases. 

Emily has worked hard to support victims of crime and guide them through what can be a difficult and confusing process. But being a prosecutor is not about getting guilty verdicts and sending someone to prison. It is about getting justice for all involved. Sometimes that also includes getting the defendant help. 

Emily is a Los Angeles County native and was raised in Arcadia. Emily has been married to law school classmate Bryan since 2007. They have two children, an 8 year old daughter and a 4 year old son. 

Emily believes that justice should be fair to everyone. It doesn't matter what background, culture, religion, or economic status you come from. A judge should be fair, reasonable, and most of all impartial. That means regardless of the judge's political affiliantion, they should follow the law and do what is right. 

Emily has built her career on being a fair prosecutor. She is able to see both sides. That will allow her to easily transition into the role of judge. 

In her time with the District Attorney's Office, there has been a rise in mentally ill defendants. They need treatment, not prison. Otherwise, the underlying problems of why they are committing crimes will never be fixed. This doesn't work for the defendant, the victims, or our County. 

At the same time, victims of crime must not be forgotten. We must always remember that with each crime there is an innocent victim that needs to seek justice as well. 

There is a balance that can be found in the criminal justice system, and Emily has the background and experience to find that balance.
