Adan Montalban is a Violent Gang Murder Prosecutor/Deputy District Attorney running for Superior Court Judge for office number 145.
He is assigned to the Hardcore Gang Division of the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. He has tried over 100 trials. He is endorsed by Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, SEIU 721, The Loyola Project for the Innocent, Deported Veterans Support House and over 50 judges including Judge Kevin Brazile, Presiding Judge of Los Angeles County.
Three years ago, he worked to free an innocent man who sat in jail for nearly 20 years for a crime he didn't commit. After the case was passed for over a decade, he accepted assignment of the case and helped uncover facts proving that Marco Contreras was wrongly convicted. Marco was immediately released and found factually innocent by the court.
As a result of Adan Montalban's work and dedication to victims' rights as well as his work with correcting wrongful convictions, he was awarded Most Valuable Prosecutor of the Year in 2017. In 2018, he was recognized as Deputy District Attorney of the Year for his work in social justice. He is currently assigned to the Hardcore Gang Division prosecuting violent gang murders.
Adan Montalban has received several awards for the vastly rewarding work he has done in the community. After graduating from law school, he founded the Free Legal Clinic. There, he provided free legal advice, form preparation and representation as needed to indigent litigants. He also currently mentors at-risk 10 year-olds on a weekly basis. Many of these kids are homeless. He provides the kids with alternatives to bad choices, social lessons and provides class-work support. In December 2019, he was recognized by the City of Los Angeles for his work with children.
On a personal note, Adan Montalban grew up in a low-income community guided by strong immigrant parents and a series of life mentors spread throughout his life. His personal experiences and obstacles he has overcome from humble beginnings, have served him well as a Deputy District Attorney and will continue to assist his fair, unbiased and equitable decision-making as a Judge of the Superior Court.
