Biography
Justin Blakely is currently a Paralegal for a non-profit agency. Justin Blakely graduated on June 2018 with Cum Laude honors. He received a Bachelor’s of Arts (B.A.) Africana Studies with a concentration in historical and political development with a minor in Criminal Justice. After graduating from California State University, Dominguez Hills, he got accepted to the University of California, Los Angeles Paralegal program and graduated in 2019. Justin served as the ASI Student Body President for CSU Dominguez Hills. Justin has been involved as an activist since 2013. He was elected as Vice President of the Organization of Africana Studies in 2015 and served another full year in 2016 as Vice President then going on to become President organization in 2017. Justin served as an active member and speaker for the Male Success Alliance, which is an organization that’s mission is to advance men of color from high school to college. Justin is one of the founders of The Rose Black Resource Center in the Loker Student Union at CSUDH. In his time serving in Associated Students, Inc. Justin served as Director of Legislative Affairs for the 2016-2017 school year and in his role represented our well diverse 15,000 student body population as the voting member on the Board of Directors at the California State Student Association representing over 500,000 students in the CSU. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He also received a leadership certificate from the Panetta Institute for Public Policy in 2017. In 2018, Justin was awarded by the Africana Studies department for the Horace Mann & Zora Neal Hurston Award “for outstanding scholarly achievement in Africana Studies” and the Kwame Nkrumah Award “for outstanding community service, and academic excellence in Africana Studies”. Justin is persistently seeking to help others in his community as well as his lifetime aspiration is to impact the entire global community. One of Justin’s favorite quotes coming from civil rights activist, professor and author Angela Davis , “I am no longer accepting things I cannot change, I am changing things I cannot accept.” which fuels his life passion of impacting the community in a positive way.
