John Ebiner, candidate for reelection to the San Dimas City Council, March 3, 2020
John Ebiner was born in Santa Monica, lived in Los Angeles for two years, and then moved to the East San Gabriel Valley. (His parents and younger brother came with him.) John attended Bishop Amat High School and graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a history degree and a teaching credential. For a few years he was a substitute high school teacher, worked in a pizza place, and played keyboards in a rock band. In 1982 he was offered a job at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach on the condition he could learn how to program computers. He has worked at Hoag since then and is now a senior software analyst.
John and Lori were married in 1984 and moved to downtown San Dimas in 1985. Lori is an artist and converted their garage into an art studio. They have four great kids, ranging in age from 18 to 32. Three are still in San Dimas, and a fourth lives in downtown Los Angeles. John and Lori also have twin one-year-old grandkids with another one on the way. They still live in the historic part of town “within walking distance of everything”.
In San Dimas John helped found the Pioneer Park H.O.M.E. Association, served on the San Dimas General Plan Advisory Committee, and was elected to the San Dimas City Council. He is Council liaison to the Parks & Recreation Commission and is the city’s alternate to the Gold Line Joint Powers Authority. He is a member of the San Dimas Historical Society and the San Dimas Chamber of Commerce.
John and Lori have been actively involved in church and school activities, including major fundraising events. At one time or another, John has been involved in Cub Scouts, Little League, and assisting with robotics and fencing programs. Memberships include the Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy, and American Farmland Trust among many others.
Among John’s interests are music, movies, family trips, time with family, gardening, sports, politics, pets, old houses, and San Dimas.
