Tricia Keane has nearly two decades of experience working in and with local governments, with the last 13 years of her career following in her dad’s footsteps dedicating herself to public service. After graduating from UCLA School of Law in 2001, Tricia clerked for Judge James Gwin, in the U.S. District Court , and then spent several years in private practice at the law firm of Latham & Watkins LLP, where she advised clients on land use, planning, and environmental matters. In 2007, Tricia joined the public sector. From 2007-2013, she was Senior Deputy County Counsel for the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning. From 2013-2019, she was Director of Land Use & Planning and then Deputy Chief of Staff for Los Angeles City Councilmember Mike Bonin. In that role, she served as a key strategic advisor, overseeing the office’s legislative and policy teams and leading the teams on a number of important policy issues like housing, homelessness, planning, and transportation. Tricia is currently Deputy Director of the Los Angeles Department of City Planning where she gets to put her experience to work making sure the largest planning department in the country is running smoothly, efficiently, and is accountable for the success of its policies and programs.
It was important to Tricia to put her experience to work in her own community. A 15-year resident of Bungalow Heaven and a 17-year resident of Pasadena, Tricia has been volunteering with the community and involved in Pasadena government for the entire time she has lived here. She has been Councilmember Margaret McAustin’s appointee to and chair of several commissions, committees, and advisory groups. From 2011-2015, she served as a member and chair of the Recreation & Parks Commission and the Hahamongna Watershed Park Advisory Committee. She chaired a subcommittee formed to evaluate the Oak Grove Area Improvement Project. From 2016-2019, she served on the Planning Commission and as a member, then chair, of the Design Commission. From 2017-2018, Tricia served on the Arroyo Advisory Group as chair of the Outreach and Engagement Committee. She is currently a member of the Rose Bowl Operating Company Board of Directors.
Born in Silverspring, Maryland, and raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area, Tricia graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and then moved to California to attend UCLA School of Law. At UCLA, she was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review (Vol. 48) and graduated Order of the Coif. In her free time, she is an avid ultra-distance runner, converted her backyard to a garden, and adopts rescue dogs.
