A lifelong Paramount resident, Moses Huerta serves as Chair of the Public Safety Commission where he actively works with residents on safety issues. He is also a member of the City’s Emergency Response Team.

Huerta completed a 30-year career at Xerox Corporation, where his work ethic helped him to advance from Stock Handler to Logistics Analyst. For the past ten years, he has been involved with H.A.P.A. (Hispanic Alliance for Professional Advancement) championing students in technology careers. Huerta owes his success to a Paramount job program that connected him with Xerox as a teen.  As a city council member, he will work to bring job programs back to Paramount to ensure that all of our young people have a chance to succeed. 

With our current environmental challenges, we need someone in the city council who understands hazardous materials such as Chromium-6 and can discuss smart solutions to these threats on public health. Huerta is certified in SCAQMD Rule 1469 safety training, the same training required of companies who use these chemical pollutants daily, and he supports stronger regulations on companies that pollute our air. 

As Public Safety Commissioner, Huerta has been energetic in addressing safety concerns and has actively worked with the Sheriff's Department. If elected to City Council, he will continue to engage actively with the community to understand their concerns. Huerta believes in the virtue of public service, he is a true people person.

Born and raised in Long Beach,Calif. I am the oldest of 7 children, all boys. I went to Whittier & Roosevelt elemenrty schools. We moved to north Long Beach, where I attended Lindbergh jr. high school.Then I graduated from Long Beach Jordan high school as the first Black ASB President in 1971. I later married and had 3 kids of one who I addopted at 3 months old. I song in rock bands that I created and managed @ age 16., ( The Back Doors ) I recorded my first 45 record in Paramount @ Paramount recording studio's on 2nd st @ Paramount blvd in 1973, with my own record label called  Bedlum) I wrote a song about my mother after she passed, as well a stage play and a teaching manual, with 2 more books on the way. I moved to Paramount in 1982  as a renter, and am still at the same localtion on 1st. St. for 37 years as a renter. I am a professional D.J. self taught since 1977, and still preform, old school music on vynil records with my collection of over 3,000 records. I do a live show every Sat/Sun @ Amvet thrift store in Long Beach for the past 7 months, to support our Vet's. I spend over 35 years working with seniors and the mentally ill as a Supervisor in activities, still doing it part time, as I demoted my self. For 20 years now I have been writting to prison inmates as I am non- judmental. I worship in Paramount @ New Commandment M.B.C. since 2002. I attend and participate in all of the cities well planned events. I have been attending all the city council meetings, some commission meetings and senior activities since 2016. I talk up the city per Ralphs grocery warehouse, The Zamboni, Cort furniutre,the Ice Skating rink.on and on. I spend 3 years with Carnival Cruise Lines, going to different parts of the world as the ships D.J. in the 80's. My hobbies are of course music, as well as going to concerts, sporting events, stage plays, parades, & helping others. I love Paramount & wish each and every canidiate the best of luck. I have been a people person and a care giver all of my life. It's no wonder that I want to help others on any level I can. My political philosophy is clear and simply. I am non judmental. I believe everyone is to be treated equal and with respect. I think everyone should vote. I have voted in every election since I was allowed to @ age 18, and am now 66 yers old. I believe in fairness. I belive in respecting one's opinion, even if it's not shared by me. I believe to lisen before you speak. I believe be kind to each other. This is not a long and dragged out complicated philsophy of mines, plain and simple.
