Wendy initially fell in love with La Verne when she attended the University of La Verne in the late 1990s. After receiving her bachelor’s degree from ULV and her law degree from Pepperdine University’s School Of Law, that love drove her to buy her home in La Verne over thirteen years ago. That love also prompted her to give back to the community through service on the Planning Commission. Presently in her second term on the Planning Commission, Wendy is now seeking your vote to serve on City Council.

For over sixteen years, Wendy practiced law in the areas of business transactions, contracts, construction, labor and employment, and general liability. She served as legal counsel to hundreds of companies ranging from local start-ups and businesses to multi-million dollar national corporations and effectively defended clients in litigation as well as provided proactive guidance on organizational risk management and compliance. Following her role as a partner in a national law firm with offices across the country, she took on her latest challenge serving as the Risk Management Lead for AECOM, a global Fortune 500 company. Wendy’s professional expertise includes strategic planning, team-building, fiscal accountability, onboarding and professional development, as well as talent management and pipelining. Additionally, Wendy’s various volunteer responsibilities aside from the City of La Verne’s Planning Commission, include, but are not limited to, currently serving on Phi Sigma Sigma’s Board of Directors as a corporate officer and as a Trustee for the University of La Verne. Wendy has also previously served as a member of the Executive Committee for the March of Dimes 2019 Inland Empire Signature Chefs Event and on the Lordsburg Court Homeowners’ Association Board. In all capacities, Wendy’s communication savvy, critical thinking abilities, and seasoned negotiation and dispute resolution skills have proven to be tremendous assets in moving these organizations forward.

Wendy is confident that these skills, coupled with her love for the City and people of La Verne, will help to foster and develop La Verne’s success and growth while maintaining the values and traditions that we love so dearly. Keny Chang graduated in Political Science from Boston University and a Master of Business Administration from Jones International University. He is a former banker for over 20 years and started his own business to continue helping people with their financial needs by making it simple and easy to understand. 

Keny Chang's political philosophy is to stabilize and grow the economy, provide affordable health care and housing, strengthen our public education and social services.

My mother was born in South Korea where she eventually met my father while he served as an Army Ranger. Both of them grew up in military households, my grandfather holding rank as a Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army. A few years later they decided to move to California, eventually settling down here in La Verne. I have lived in this city since the age of four. I graduated from Bonita High School in 2016 and currently attend Mt. San Antonio College. I have worked in the Community Services Department for the City of Pomona since I was 18. Here, I have gained a great deal of first hand experience in actively serving my community wherever needed. Our department carries out a multitude of services for families all over Pomona through the use of community facilities. Tutoring, youth sports, arts, field trips and educational projects are just some of the services provided by our department. They are all free of charge, and pay dividends by taking some of the increasingly expensive burden of childcare off of families. In addition to  my experience with the City of Pomona, I am also employed by the City of Azusa’s Library Department as a Library Aide. Here, I see the impact a local public library can have on its community. Free and easy access to knowledge is vitally important for the development of people young and old, especially those from groups who have been historically underrepresented and under-resourced. Azusa offers classes such as adult literacy, citizenship and even technology classes for the elderly. These classes are of low cost to the taxpayer while also truly impacting the lives of our community for the better., something I'd like to carry out here in La Verne. All in all, I truly wish to help better my community wherever and however I can. In addition to my experience in local government, I have been recognized by the California State Senate for my volunteer work with Assembly member Chris Holden’s Young Legislators Program. I have been recognized by my school’s Dean for my actions as Vice President of Mt. SAC’s Astronomy club and have been involved in multiple volunteering organizations throughout the local area. I have and will continue to serve my community. I promise that if you vote for me as La Verne’s next Council member, I will turn the tide against acts of a sluggish local government while also giving a new vitality to our community. I will continuously seek out the opinions of my constituents and act directly upon them. I am not your average politician. Instead, I am a candidate with Civil Service as my top priority.

I believe many of America's current issues stem from a continuous lack of dialogue. Whether it be party lines, socioeconomic divisions or a flat out refusal to recognize differing ideas, we as a nation must overcome this current state of affairs. Personally speaking, I feel there is good in both Left and Right leaning parties. I belive an overall progressive mindset to be a crucial component of policy based improvement. That an understanding of past mistakes and improper executions should be learned from and better carried out in the future. On the other hand, we should all recognize the sheer importance of our countries foundation. That certain ideals and virtues are cemented, making America the greatest country on Earth. With this being said, it is important to also realsie the importance of local government. This body has the greatest impact on the lives of Americans like you and I. So it is incredibly important to carry out the actions of local government decisively, being cost effective to the taxpayer while also holding their thoughts and concerns as a top priority. Overall, Government should maintain civil service as its top priority. As Thomas Jefferson once said, "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is Liberty.". Far too often, the people of America have viewed their governemnt as being overbearing and controlive. This is a dangerous practice and should indeed be changed for the better.
