A COMMITMENT TO PUBLIC SERVIC

Ben Tarzynski, a life-long Angeleno, earned his law degree from UC Hastings, College of the Law, and a Masters in Public Administration from CSU Long Beach. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara, where he was a student leader, Ben wanted to serve his country. He joined the United States Marine Corps and went on active duty in the Marines, including serving overseas in Japan for over two years.  After achieving the rank of Captain and earning two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Ben returned home with an Honorable Discharge to reenter civilian life, serve his community, and start a family. Seeking to use his experience as a licensed attorney to serve the community, Ben applied to work with the District Attorney’s Office, and was chosen among hundreds of applicants to become a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Los Angeles.*

GARDENA IS HOME

Ben and his wife Madoka chose Gardena as the place where they wanted to raise their family.  Ben's family attends church in Gardena and his son attends preschool in Gardena.  They bought their first home here, and now with two young children, they are deeply invested in the Gardena community.

About Ochuwa Oghie

Ochuwa Oghie is a Nigerian-American actress, producer and writer. She is a 15-year resident of Gardena. She graduated with honors from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Theatre Arts and went on to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) to earn her postgraduate in Classical Theatre.  Ochuwa has appeared on several TV shows (Grey’s Anatomy, Touch, Just Jordan), Film (Black Panther, Dream in American and Upcoming Disney Pixar Animation film Soul), national commercials (PlayStation, Mead “Five Star Band”, Sprint, SunTrust Bank, US Bank) and countless stage productions. She created her own production-marketing company in 2012, “Osquared Productions”, which has produced the film, The Interns, and the award-winning solo play, Take Me To The PoorHouse.

Ochuwa earned her Master’s in Business Administration from Pepperdine’s Graziadio School of Business Administration and currently works as a Regional Manager for a warehouse leasing company.

About Her Campaign

As a new mother, Ochuwa actively sought out multicultural events to take her son to in her home City. And as he grows, she thinks about what school choices are available in her beautiful City.

Ochuwa Oghie is passionate about leveraging opportunities that will allow more multigenerational, multicultural events and initiatives to thrive.  Creating an environment wherein the community engages its youth through arts and school partnerships is a major component of her vision for the City of Gardena.  She highly values the further exploration of opportunities that enable all businesses to flourish and foster economic growth.

 Ochuwa says, ‘This is the city of opportunity and I want to be of service to my city to ensure that every resident has access to all the wonderful opportunities this City has to offer. These are some of the reasons I am running to serve as your City Council Member.”
