Champion our children, Provide leadership and Work to retain and recruit qualified teachers and classified staff.
As a mom of 2 young girls at the beginning of their educational journey, I have a active interest in the education of all of our children. I believe our goal as parents and teachers is for all children to succeed. We need to be team players for successful education to commence.
This past year assisting in my daughters classroom, participating in school events and teaching STEAM classes through the Watsonville Police Activities League has made me aware of the various needs of parents, teachers, students and staff in our community. Being in the classroom has re-enforced my belief in the importance of teachers. I see the unique needs of all of our children. Not all children learn the same. Our children are not cookie cutters. It is important that we as parents have a voice in our children’s education. I will be that voice. Funding priorities should be curriculum and tools to help students to excel and teachers to succeed. We must retain and recruit qualified teachers and staff. After all teachers are the number one influencers in our children’s educational life.
It is time to bring new and vibrant leadership to our school board. We need representation from active parents with school age children. My daughter has just begun her educational journey and will be in school for the next 12 years. The school board needs trustees that have a vested interest in our children’s education. It is important that there is a connection and representation for parents and students, I will be that person.
We need a stronger more dynamic curriculum that is geared towards our changing world. I will bridge that gap by serving as a welcoming voice who will actively listen to parents, educators, staff and students in the decision making process. It is time for a change to ensure the success of all our children and build a solid educational foundation.
