Dear Voters:
What a wonderful honor and privilege it is to represent you as your County Supervisor, here in the community that I was born and raised. I attended local schools and graduated from Watsonville High, Cabrillo College, Santa Clara University and obtained a Juris Doctor from Western College of Law. I served our country as a Military Officer in the National Guard and Army Reserve. My wife, Carmen and I are proud to raise our 5 children, Robert, Christine, Pauline, Lorraine & Clare in Watsonville.
My experience also includes cutting lettuce & packing and loaded chives in the Pajaro Valley. I have a long history of humanitarian and community service work, having worked with the Volunteer In Service to America; the Salesians of Saint Don Bosco in Medellin, Columbia, and the San Pablo Boys and Girls Club in Richmond, California. I have also spent countless hours volunteering with the Penny Club, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Lions Club, Saint Patrick’s Church, Our Lady Help of Christians, Pajaro Valley and Watsonville High Schools and Little League Baseball. I served on the Watsonville City Council between 2006 and 2010.
As your County Supervisor I have worked to:
Reduce the risk of flooding on the Pajaro River & Salsipuedes Creek;
Expand Healthcare for seniors and families;
Secured financing for a state-of-the-art Sheriff’s station to improve public safety;
Advocated increased services to veterans;
Fought to lower public executive pay before reducing the wages of lowest paid county employees and donated over $120,000 of my wages to local charities and school programs;
Distributed over 10,000 Redwood Trees;
Brought over 50,000,000 in Capital Projects to the Pajaro Valley Including Rehab Facility, Dental Clinic, and Mental Health Clinic;
Getting our roads paved & fixing Casserly Bridge; banked funding for over 7 millon dollars worth of roads & culverts in Pajaro
Valley. Most of the work will be done within the next 2 to 5 years; and
Championed affordable workforce and seniors housing;
With your Support and Vote, I will continue to donate a portion of my wages, advocate for smart growth over urban sprawl; solving housing issues, fair share of public funds, expanding parks including a new pump track and finalizing a Pajaro River Flood Improvement Project resulting in reduced flood insurance rates. Let us work together to find solutions for people, not politics!
I will be honored to have your vote.
