Dear Voters,
After meeting so many of you from all of the diverse communities and neighborhoods of Union City and Hayward, i am confident that by engaging with you often we can bring change that benefits our students. While California is the 6th largest economy in the world, a lot of people in Union City and South Hayward have been left behind. We are proud of having some of the cutting edge technology companies here in the Bay Area, but unfortunately the vast majority of our students and residents have not benefited. The income gap keeps growing, the affordability of housing is becoming is a bastion for those who are privileged and more people who grew up in our neighborhoods are being forced to move further out. I am running for Chabot College trustee to focus on those job training areas in this high tech economy to train our students in focussed diploma courses which will lead them to a well paying jobs that do not require a University degree, be they be in Cloud Computing Security, Dev Ops, Data Center operations, Quality Assurance, Compliance, GovCloud (This only requires US Citizens) and in the Bio-Tech and health care industry. I hope to earn your vote on November 6, 2018 so we can begin the process of guiding those who have been forgotten to a process of training them with necessary skills to fulfill the thousands of open jobs here in the Bay Area. I am also thankful to the New Haven Teachers Association for lengthy discussion on how we can together work with the New Haven School District to ease the transition to College of our students. I am also thankful to the current and former Union City, and New Haven School Board leadership who has endorsed my candidacy.(Partial list - Carol Dutra-Vernaci, Pat Gacoscos, Emily Duncan, Gary Singh, Lorrin Ellis - Union City Council Member, Mark Green, Jim Navarro, Manuel Fernandez, Linda Canlas, Sarabjit Kaur Cheema, Sharan Kaur, Jeff Wang, Gertrude Quiros Gregorio, Michael Ritchie , Hayward leaders - Mark Salinas, Sara Lamnin - State leaders - Fiona Ma, Alex Gallardo-Rooker, and our own Congressman Eric Swalwell among others).
We have to work together with all local leaders, teachers, to put Students and Communities First. This is about their future. Thank you and God Bless.
