Biography

My family moved to Pleasanton in 1980 and I’m a proud graduate of Amador Valley High School. My wife, Elizabeth, also graduated from Amador and is a lifelong resident. We both graduated from Sacramento State University and worked in Sacramento for a few years, but always knew we would return to Pleasanton. This city holds a special place in our hearts and we’ve been privileged to call it home for nearly 40 years.

I’ve actively served in our community for more than 12 years, starting with the Bike, Pedestrian and Trails Subcommittee, followed by two terms as a Parks & Recreation Commissioner. These experiences have been incredibly meaningful for me, and I've earned a reputation as a flexible consensus builder who’s passionate about our community.

During my time on the Commission, including two terms as Chair, we delivered many valuable amenities to the community, including two phases of Bernal Community Park, Cubby’s Dog Park, expansion of the Pleasanton Tennis Park, renovation of the Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center, and Stoneridge, Rotary and Harding neighborhood parks. We also added new trails and improved our roadways for cyclists and pedestrians. I’ve worked with the Council to set priorities and directly with city staff to plan projects, including the upcoming Community Farm at Bernal and the Lions-Wayside redevelopment. I’m particularly proud of my contributions to the long-term planning of our Park & Rec system, including development and adoption of the Park & Rec Master Plan and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. These plans have already delivered meaningful improvements to our city and will continue to do so for many years to come.
