Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I believe our local leaders should dedicate themselves to serving best interests over self interests, to providing the greatest good in making policy decisions, and to            strengthening our communities by fairly representing residents of various viewpoints while collaboratating towards our shared goals.  Redondo Beach is not a one-issue city. Our quality of life is driven by many things, including our economic vitality, our excellent school system, our open spaces and our first-rate police and fire services. As city leaders, our job is to remember this and find balanced solutions to all of our challenges.

Summary

Why I am running for Redondo Beach City Council, District 2.

FOR MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL

DOUG RODRIGUEZ      AGE: 53

Occupation: Redondo Beach Planning Commissioner

Elected officials should serve best interests over special interests, and work towards balanced solutions. We deserve city leaders with experience, integrity, and fiscal responsibility to help guide us forward.

As your current Redondo Beach Planning Commissioner and former Public Safety Commissioner, I understand the responsibilities of negotiating on behalf of the residents, while maintaining balanced outcomes for our community.  Increasing the safety, security and wellbeing of our residents and neighborhoods continues to be one of my highest priorities.

For over 25 years, I have built a successful management career finding fiscally responsible solutions, improving complex procedures, and strengthening organizations. These experiences have prepared me for the challenges our city faces.

My vision for Redondo Beach focuses on four core values:

•           Preserving our unique quality of life

•           Protecting public safety and security

•           Revitalizing much needed infrastructure

•           Unifying our residential and business communities

I have a very personal stake in protecting this city, which I proudly call home.   As a third generation resident, 20 year homeowner, dedicated husband, father, and neighbor, I will ensure the decisions we make now are safe and sound for generations to come.

With your vote, we can create an exciting new chapter together.
