I am the fifth of seven children. My parents immigrated from the Philippines. My father was a career military man, and served in World War II, the Korean conflict, and Viet Nam War. He was a prisoner of war during World War II. My mother was a maid and a farm worker.
I have two sons. My oldest is a graduate student at George Washington University in the District of Columbia with his scheduled graduation date being May 2021. He is anticipating that he will be attending law school in the fall of 2021. My youngest son is an engineering major/physics minor at Cal Poly, Pomona.
I have been an attorney for 30 years and am licensed in California, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia.
I have served as a Commissioner/Judge Pro Tem with both the Superior Court of Monterey and Santa Clara County and have acted as a Pro Tem Commissioner/Judge since 1999. I have also acted a paid mediator; and have acted in the capacity of an arbitrator for the State Bar of California and for the Monterey County Bar Association.
I have also served on the Monterey County Grand Jury on two different occasions, 1995 and 1997.
I have also acted in the capacity as the attorney for the local chapter (Monterey County) of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
My community service includes sitting on a varitey of non-profit boards, including Legal Aid of Monterey County, United Way of the Monterey Peninsula, and the Door to Hope.
I make my home in the City of Marina.
