District 4 faces divisive issues criss-crossing social and environmental justice. I've learned firsthand on dozens of occasions that families have been ripped apart because jobs and housing issues have gotten worse, not better.  The County leads on these important challenges when it comes to the region. In the 10 years I have served on the Salinas City Council, I have come to know these issues well and offered solutions. I have played a direct role in diversifying our economy using AG Tech.  I have also helped add housing units by supporting farmworker housing, smaller market rate apartments in downtown Salinas & expanded options for the homeless.  I'm ready to do the same for the region as a County Supervisor.  These issues are so pressing,  I've already started to get to work. I've been involved in the opening of the homeless shelter in Seaside & have led an effort to convert 100 hotel rooms into a transitional housing complex for the homeless.
