San Diego County Board of Education Member Mark Powell has overhauled the County Office of Education through Independent Leadership and Common-Sense Solutions. Today our students are better equipped to compete in a global economy, and through internship programs many are ready to enter the workforce.
Mark has 28 years of Educational Leadership as a Teacher, Vice-Principal, and University Professor. Mark spearheaded efforts to establish term-limits for school board members, putting a stop to career politicians in education. No school board member should remain in office for over 20 years.
Mark’s experience serving as a San Diego Police Officer Reserve was instrumental when working with Law Enforcement and our schools and students are safer today. Mark led the charge to revamp the County’s outdated drug education curriculum to combat the Opioid Crisis.
Mark has taken steps to hold school leaders and school districts accountable for mismanaging their budgets, getting the money out of hands of overpaid administrators and back into the classroom where it belongs. His continued fiscal oversight is needed now more than ever.
Mark’s qualifications include a Master’s Educational Counseling; Master’s Educational Administration; Bachelor’s Criminal Justice Administration; Multiple Subject Teaching Credential; Educational Administration Credential; School Counseling Credential.
