I am an experienced educator, community organizer, and mom of twins. I have a masters in education from San Francisco State University and over 20 years of experience supporting public education. I helped secure almost $2 million for improvements at Carver ES in the Bayview, led strategic planning of the "A-G for All” graduation initiative in OUSD, and developed a successful United Way Bay Area grant for first-generation college-going families in SFUSD. Seeing the widespread inequity in our public school system, I wanted to take the lead in making a change. I co-founded SF Families Union, a parent organization devoted to creating safe, integrated, and inclusive public schools. In this capacity, I've served on the Close the Gap coalition, working with UESF, Jobs with Justice, Coleman Advocates, SEIU-1021, Children's Legal Services and other organizations focused on supporting democratically-controlled, community public schools. I also write a blog for families and educators committed to social justice in schools.
