Profession:Retired attorney
Trustee, West Valley - Mission Community College District — Elected position (2000–current)
Commissioner, Civil Service Commission City of Santa Clara — Appointed position (1999–2007)

Santa Clara University Juris Doctor (J.D.) Bachelor of Civil Engineering (B.C.E.) (current)

Community Activities

President, Santa Clara Swim Club (1987–1989)
President, Board Member, Forest Park Cabana Club (1974–1982)

I have been a Santa Clara resident for more than 50 years.  After graduating from Santa Clara University with a degree in Civil Engineering, I went on active duty in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with posts in Virginia and Missouri.

Following military service I enrolled in the Santa Clara University School of Law, with summer employment in the construction industry helping to pay my educational expenses.  After passing the bar examination I joined the County of Santa Clara in the County Counsels office representing school and community college districts within the County.

My children were born in Santa Clara and attended local schools. My community involvement includes coaching my children’s youth sports teams, tutoring adult ESL classes at Sacred Heart Community Services, and serving as a church lector at St. Justin’s Parish.  I also served as President of the Santa Swim Club for three years.

After retiring as an active member of the California State Bar Association, I served two terms on the City of Santa Clara Civil Service Commission.  My interest in education prompted me to run for office at the West Valley - Mission Community College District, where I am in my fourth term.
