Trevor is active in San Francisco school and youth politics serving on the SFUSD's Quality Teacher and Education Act (QTEA) Oversight Committee and is a school ambassador with Parents for Public Schools (PPS-SF). He also is his school site representative to the governing council of his teacher's union - San Mateo Elementary Teacher's Association (SMETA, affiliated with the CTA California Teacher's Association and the NEA National Education Association)
Aside from teaching Trevor McNeil is involved in many civic activities recently serving on the board of the Inner Sunset Park Neighborhood Association and the city's Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee. In 2006 Trevor was elected to the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee and in 2012 was elected again becoming the Party's Vice-Chair for Voter Registration. Trevor works with SFUSD youth as a volunteer tutor with 826 Valenciaand the San Francisco Education Fund. He is involved with Teachers for Social Justice, a Mindfulness in Education group, and state-wide teacher union activties. He is on a whaleboat rowing team with the SF Port Authority and sings in the Glide ensemble where he also volunteers regularly in their soup kitchen. Trevor grew up in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco.Trevor McNeil has a Bachelor's in political science from Carleton College, a Certificate in Theological Studies from the Pacific School of Religion at the Graduate Theological Union, a Secondary Education Credential from San Francisco State University, and a Master's from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
He lives in the Inner Sunset with his wife, Sarah, his daughter, Walden, and his puppy, Ella (full disclosure: Ella is an older dog but the candidate feels she is very puppy-like).
