Monroe County Chief Deputy Coroner Bob Hill is announcing his candidacy for Monroe County Coroner. Bob is a native & curren...t resident of Columbia, IL. He is a 1994 graduate of Columbia High School. Bob has 8 years of experience in the Coroner field. Bob is the first Board Certified Medicolegal Death Investigator in Monroe County Coroner's Office History. He currently serves as Chief Deputy Coroner for Monroe County, a position he has held for the past 6 years. Previously, he served 2 years as a Deputy Coroner in Newton County, Indiana. Bob holds numerous training certifications in law enforcement and death investigations, and is a current standing member of the Illinois Coroner’s & Medical Examiners Association. Bob is also a member of the Southern Illinois Child Death Task Force.
Bob graduated from Indiana University with a Criminal Justice Degree and spent 3 years working as a police officer in Indiana. He holds a degree in Mortuary Science from Mid America College of Funeral Service. He has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer for 12 years. And has 17 years of experience of handling and caring for deceased after death.
Bob possesses a wealth of knowledge in his career fields. As Chief Deputy Coroner, his compassion and professionalism with attention to detail are the strong qualities that Bob brings to families that are experiencing the death of a loved one, either through natural causes or tragic accidents.
Bob has one son Jacob, who is a freshman football player at Missouri Baptist University his major is Criminal Justice & Sports Management.
Through Bob’s experience in this field he has learned this position is not only a full time position but requires an extremely flexible schedule. The unpredictable hours may seem daunting to some but it is where his passion lies. Bob asks you trust his experience and dedication and elect him to serve our great community as Monroe County Coroner.
“As Coroner, I will continue the proactive approach that the Monroe County Coroner’s office has taken on drug awareness, and I will continue to work with our schools, law enforcement agencies and the Monroe County Coalition for Drug Free Communities on this serious epidemic. I have also been involved with the founding of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) that will kick off in the next month in Monroe County. Suicide prevention and domestic violence awareness are also on the forefront of programs I will focus my attention on. I believe my wealth of experience, knowledge, and training I bring to this office as well as my passion, commitment and dedication to the people of our community will make me an excellent Coroner for Monroe County”.
