My name is Palmer Kain. I have been a proud member of the Monterey Bay community since I was 3 years old when my parents moved me to Santa Cruz. As a young student at Monte Vista Christian School, I spent my free-time working to improve our community, and throughout my life that has not changed. After high school, I joined the U.S. Army, where I was deployed overseas. After returning from the Army, I got my first job in local politics, as a policy maker for Mayor Rodkin (spelling), with some of my policy ideas continuing to benefit our community to this day.
I hold an AA from Cabrillo College, but due to the high cost of college in our nation, I was forced to continue my education at a leading university overseas, where I attained my BA in Government. It's due to this experience, that I have created an 8-point education plan, that includes making the UC/CSU system affordable for all Californians.
During my studies, I was able to pick the brains of world leaders, and even participate in active peace talks during real time. Since returning from school, I have taken my experiences and used them to build a coalition of citizens focused on bringing back the community model. Through the community model, where neighbor looks out for their neighbor, we can solve some of our most pressing issues, including the lack of a quality education for California's youth.
As someone who has dedicated his life to improving our community, I look forward to continuing that work as your next state Senator for the 17th district. Together we can rebuild our communities and create a brighter future for all Californians.
