I believe that we need to build new dams in strategic places though out Califonria.  We also need to build the infrastructure required to deliver rain water and runoff to those dams. We can, and should, build a pipeline that will connect most of the dams from Northern California to Southern California to ensure maximum water capacity is achieved for our drought years.  Incentives to convert to Desert landscapes and swimming pool-less backyards should be given.  

Climate change is eal and unless we curtail it, it will continue to get hotter and hotter.  We also, need to turn away from fossil fuels, and natural gas.  We need to install solar panels, wind mills and use water currents to create electricity instead of increasing CO2 levels and continue to create the greenhouse effect.  We can also invest in clean energy, mass transportation and turn our vehicles into electric cars.  When we can get a reliably, self-driving vehicle that can be programed to go where it's programed to go, we'll be able to make almost all failies a one-car family and Carbon Monoxide levels will drop even more drastically.  All this is achivable within a few years.  I will work toward setting the conditions that will make it happen.

We need to pass laws that will make Publicly funded elections a reality in California.  We need to ban government officials from being able to go to work as lobbyist for their big money donors for at least five years after they leave office.  A State holiday to allow all the people of California to vote can help by making lawmakers subject to the voters.  A shorter campaign season makes it so that politicians govern instead of fund -raise. We have term limits to prevent corrupt politicians from staying on for life but if we get big money out of politics, the Voter will hold bad politicians accountable and boot them out.  California has been a progressive State and if we set the example, other states will follow suit.  

If inflation had kept up with wages, many experts believe that wages would be over $26 an hour.  While it may be true that at first, business may suffer from the increase, government can help small business by subsiding or giving tax credits the first year and, if needed, the second year.  However, we live in a consumer driven economy and most people have to consume just to survive.  The more money they have, the more they will consume with their expendible income.  Businesses should thrive. 

I support a living wage.  Some cities require a higher wage than $15 an hour.  It is important to remember that this is the MINIMUM amount of money , we believe a person should be making just to make ends meet. The increase, will also mean that families will no longer be eleigible for some social programs and that may mean more savings for California.    

Wherever there are bloated and obselete agencies, we'll either absorb them, re-structure and streamline by not back-filling empty positions.  I do not beleive that we need to subside big corporations.  It's not the amount of money that we are spending that is the problem, it is the value and return to our investments that we need to look at.  We want to be lean but not mean when instituding budget cuts that will affect the lives of employees and their families or the general public.
