I have worked for many years on community clean ups which quickly led to me getting drafted into a Advisory Board for the City of LA. I was then asked and blessed to be elected as President of the advisory board additionally I have served on my neighborhood council for 6 years. This last year I spent a lot of time working on the anti-automation efforts in the Port of Los Angeles. I marched down Harbor Blvd to stand up and fight for our union brothers and sisters. Many community members came to my house and donated food so we could make sack lunches, so students didn’t have to cross the picket lines to eat when UTLA was on strike. When I believe in a cause or an issue, I put my heart into it and I give it everything I’ve got. This includes the Democratic Party! I found my love for the party when I started working in my community, I realized quickly that change came from legislation. Things like homelessness, health care and union labor. I have worked hard on democratic issues for many years. Recently I was elected President of the San Pedro Democratic club, I am also a founding member and VP of the Muslim Democratic Club of Southern California. During my time I have helped grow membership and engage Democrats in our community. My work has also led to me being elected as a delegate to the California Democratic Party. I currently serve as co-chair to the California Democratic Party finance committee and serve as an Executive board member. I’ve passed resolutions through the Los Angeles county and state party supporting labor. I was honored to be named Assembly District 70 female Democrat of the in 2019, I was also 2016 35th Senate District Extraordinary Citizen of the year and 2017 Assembly District 70 Woman of Distinction.
