Jose Trinidad Castaneda III is a native Fullertonian and community leader, as well as an affordable housing and environmental champion. Born and raised in Fullerton, Jose's paternal grandparents immigrated from Totolmajac, State of Mexico, Mexico to Anaheim, California in the 1950s. Simultaneously, Jose's maternal grandparents immigrated from El Cargadero, Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico to Anaheim, California. Jose grew up in South and West Fullerton, and regularly visits family across Anaheim, La Habra, Buena Park, and Yorba Linda. Jose and his family attended St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Fullerton, St. Boniface Catholic Church in Anaheim, and St. Pius Catholic Church in Buena Park.

Currently, Jose works as the Orange County Climate and Energy Advocate and Organizer with the non-profit environmental policy organization, Climate Action Campaign. He previously worked as the ProAgua Coordinator at the William C. Velasquez Institute in Los Angeles, where he engaged with Spanish-speaking communities to promote civic engagement, social and economic justice, as well as sustainable policies. Due to his extensive knowledge on climate action, Jose played a significant role in the creation of the Los Angeles County Sustainability Master Plan.

Jose served as a municipal commissioner on the City of Fullerton Parks and Recreation Commission, and currently serves on the South Coast Air Quality Management District Youth Leaders Council. As an individual who grew up with asthma and bronchitis, Jose was the voice behind additional air quality sensors in North Orange County to benefit the health of working class communities of color most impacted by respiratory diseases. In 2019, Jose received Certificates of Recognition for Public Service from the City of Fullerton and office of California Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva for his service as a commissioner. In 2018, Jose received the Certificate of Leadership Award from State Senator Josh Newman for organizing the March for Science and People’s Climate March in Orange County. Jose has been volunteering as a Fullerton Fire Department Community Emergency Response Team Member for the past three years.

Jose Trinidad Castaneda earned his Associate’s degrees in Anthropology and Biology from Fullerton College, and his Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from California State University, Los Angeles, and a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. He is a 2019 Fellow of the New Leaders Council Los Angeles Institute, and 2017 Alum of the New American Leaders Project.

Before his work in nonprofit, Jose created after school sustainability leadership programs for middle school students, who have since gone on to lead efforts to build aquaponic farms at their high school. When he isn’t empowering youth, you can find Jose tending to his medicinal garden.

Jose will fight to defend and promote the rights, opportunities, and safety of all residents. Jose envisions a North Orange County that leads the region as a model of prosperity and safety.

Jose supports North Orange County's excellent public education system, from pre-K through college, to empower our youth to reach their full potential; good jobs; sustainably planned communities; a strong democracy from the workplace to the federal government; and secure and peaceful communities.

Jose will fight to: protect our lungs and clean air; protect our safe, clean drinking water; and provide affordable, clean renewable energy; locate affordable housing where appropriate; and, develop innovative technology to reduce our carbon footprint.

Jose honors, celebrates, and supports a diverse Orange County, including immigrant and indigenous communities, veterans, artists, children and seniors, and will work to ensure they receive needed resources.

Dr. Jose Paolo Magcalas was elected to the Anaheim Elementary School Board in November 2016 and represents Trustee Area 3 (the southwest region). Dr. Magcalas brings energy, passion and diverse experience to the Anaheim Elementary School Board. He is an Anaheim native and graduate of Clara Barton Elementary School. He teaches Ethnic Studies and United States history at Loara High School. He also teaches part-time in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program at Chapman University. In 2016, Dr. Magcalas was named Top 25 Teachers in Orange County according to O.C. Parenting Magazine.

He is proudly affiliated with the Paulo Freire Democratic Project, the National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME), the American Education Research Association (AERA), the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), the National Association for Ethnic Studies (NAES), the California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) and the California School Boards Association (CSBA).

Dr. Magcalas has presented his research in numerous national and international conferences and his work was even published in UCLA’s Center X Education Journal. Dr. Magcalas earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach, Master of Arts degree in Education and Teaching Credential from Pepperdine University, Administrative Credential from California State University, Fullerton and his Ph.D. in Education from Chapman University. He was also awarded the Paulo Freire Outstanding Graduate Student Award from Chapman University.

 Ada Briceño immigrated to the United States at age 6, when her family fled civil war in Nicaragua. She settled in Orange County, California when she was 14. She began working as a hotel front desk clerk after high school. It was her first union job and it provided her first pair of glasses, and her best meal of the day. Ada rose quickly to union leadership, and at age 26, she became the first Latina President of UNITE-HERE Local 681 at a time when anti-immigrant, anti-worker sentiment thrived in Orange County.Today, Ada serves as Co-President of UNITE-HERE Local 11, representing over 32,000 hotel workers in Los Angeles County, Orange County and Arizona. She is also a Vice President of UNITE-HERE International Union, representing over 270,000 workers. UNITE-HERE Local 11 won historic living wage initiatives for thousands of workers in California. It is leading the fight to end the rampant sexual harassment in the hotel industry, while lifting wages and pension benefits for low wage workers. UNITE-HERE members are also registering thousands of voters and knocking on thousands of doors in Arizona, often in desert heat, to help flip the state and save our democracy.Ada is Chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County, and is the first immigrant in its history to hold that role. Orange County made national headlines under Ada’s leadership a few months ago, when the county’s voter registration flipped blue for the first time in decades.In the California Democratic Party, Ada serves as Lead Co-Chair of the Finance Committee and a former Lead Co-Chair of the Committee on Standing Committees. She has served as Assembly Delegate for the 65th District. In addition to her political and union work, Ada has led many civil rights, immigrant rights, women’s rights, and environmental efforts.She co-founded OCCORD, Orange County Communities Organized for Responsible Development, a multicultural coalition of workers and activists that successfully created district elections and improved representation in Orange County’s largest city, the City of Anaheim. She is the former Chair of Orange County Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE), an organization that unites faith and political advocacy to expand rights for workers and immigrants.As a member of the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s Environmental Justice Advisory Committee, Ada strives to uplift the voices of communities of color who are disproportionately impacted by environmental harm. As a Steering Committee member of the Orange County Women’s March, she works to produce an inclusive and empowering annual event that attracts over 20,000 attendees per year. Ada was named one of Orange County’s “100 Most Influential” by the Orange County Register in 2019, 2018 and 2014.

I believe in an inclusive Orange County, where everyone has a seat a the table. Women's right, immigrant rights, projecting our environment, workers right and LGBTQ right are crucial to me. I have spent 29 years of my life uplifting these principles.

As a graduate of Cal State Fullerton, my life was blessed because the great state of California invested in a university system.  CSUF provided an excellent education at affordable cost to students.  In return, I have volunteered in the community to repay this generous trust.

My service naturally starts at home.  My wife, Els, and I enjoyed helping our three daughters’ Girl Scout Troops.  I serve a variety of community organizations; and have served the Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) since 2009.  In 2013, I became the Treasurer of the DPOC, the sixth largest county in our nation.  DPOC was barely surviving with just enough cash to pay one month’s bills.  At the end of my term, in 2016, the cash balance could fund DPOC for twelve months.  And during this four year period, the number of Democrats dramatically increased.  This exciting trend paved the way for the wonderful Blue Wave of 2018, when Orange County elected more Democrats than in the past 40 years.

My professional career has spanned more than 30 years working for corporations in the finance department.  I’ve had fun building systems and procedures to serve customers and provide information for management to make better informed decisions.  I currently serve Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles in my current role as Chief Budget and Planning Officer.

I am asking for your vote to serve on the Democratic Party’s Orange County Central Committee because I believe we can achieve great deeds when we work together.  I respect the interdependent circle of life, and believe we should be good stewards leaving a clean environment for future generations.  I believe our nation, state and local communities are safer when we provide opportunity to all our children in equal measure.  Hope and respect for all life provides a great incentive to protect our neighborhoods, leading to healthier surroundings and encourages all people to excel.

If re-elected, I pledge to not only help defend our bluewave wins, but to help expand to cities where the Dem population continues to explode. In Fullerton, Buena Park, Anaheim, Stanton, and La Palma we have made in-roads but we need to bring new and old to the table to build our reach to all democrats. Lifelong resident of Orange County, I have been passionate about community, civics, and politics since before I was even an adult, and am moreso now.  I grew up attending our local public schools (Pacific Drive, Golden Hill, Parks Jr. High, Sunny Hills High School), playing Rangers soccer, West Fullerton Little League baseball, and swimming at Independence Park every summer.  My interests range from history, cooking, civics, literature, service, to most important of all, being an overly-indulgent cat-Dad.  I've also been the primary caregiver for my wonderful-but-feisty Grandmother for several years now.

I am a proud liberal/progressive, and believe very strongly in service, community, and our institutions.  I am running to continue to serve them as capably and wisely as I am able.  I identify as I do for far too many reasons to list, but to put it bluntly, if there's an issue, I very likely have an opinion about it, one I'm only too happy to share with you in an amiable and thoughtful way.  I believe we are able, as individuals, communities, and institutions, to always be making progress on issues that is grounded in fact, justice, reason, compassion, and nuanced thought and anticipation.  I will always strive to serve with conviction and fight for those worthwile and necessary causes, for our Constitutional values, for our environment, for opportunity and quality of life and dignity, for justice, for kindness and decency, for our vulnerable communities (LGBTQ, immigrant, indigenous, homeless and otherwise disadvantaged), and our community, both locally and globally.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me with them, I'm more than happy to listen and share.  Thank you for your consideration!

Born and raised in Southern California, Andy Lewandowski has been a resident of Orange County for over 50 years, and is a graduate of Servite High School. He is Vice President and part owner of a manufacturing business in Anaheim founded in 2000. Andy semi-retired as the company’s General Manager in 2018 with 30 years experience in production control and operations.

As an employer who worked his way up from seasonal labor on a shop floor in the Irvine Spectrum district in the mid-1980s, Andy understands the needs and struggles of both Orange County’s increasingly diverse working class and business communities, and how our progressive values can be advanced to everyone’s mutual benefit.

Andy spends most of his time volunteering as a community organizer. He has been a member of the OC Women’s March coalition since 2017 and co-organized the From Charlottesville to Laguna Beach: We Stand Together unity rally in August of that year. He also coordinated logistics and resources in 2018 for the student led March for Our Lives in Santa Ana with keynote speaker Gavin Newsome, and was a lead organizer of the Families Belong Together march on the James A. Musick detention facility in Irvine.

Most recently, Andy has worked closely with 2019 OCYD Obama Award honorees VietRISE on their ongoing #BringHumanRightsHome campaign and the October 2019 #WeCelebrateSanctuary festival.
