David Donaldson has been an active Democratic Party Member since 2010. He has worked as an active volunteer fundraiser for the Clean Money Campaign that succeeded requiring the naming of the top three funders of political ads within the ad itself.
As a part of the Santa Clara County Democratic Club since appx. 2013, now known as the Silicon Valley Democratic Club, he has been a small donor fundraiser supporting membership growth from activists and the general public, using Merc newspaper ads that invite free attendance to club, county party and outside political group events. Holding club titles like Membership growth chair, Public Relations, recording secretary and messaging coordination with other groups led to real support and encouragement to activists. The club grew from approximately 80 dues paying members to over three hundred within three years. Today, membership is above 400. I will continue bringing that momentum to the county party leadership.
A part of Congressman Ro Khanna’s' original CD 17 successful election campaign to replace former Congressman Mike Honda, working within the Democratic Club system, David is currently representing Congressman Ro Khanna since election to CD 17, as his Alternate at the Santa Clara County Democratic Party Central Committee. David votes as instructed by Ro, when something is of interest to him. Most of the time, David votes his conscience. David is fully prepared to serve the four-year term as your representative.
A strong supporter of the Silicon Valley Woman’s' Caucus through fundraising for Merc newspaper ads, announcing their meetings, included the continuation of fundraising for Merc ads for the last three Woman’s' March events in San Jose. And other fundraising for them. My support to woman’s justice included cooperating with the woman leading the recall of Judge Persky locally. Those woman leaders were supported to join the club to impact future Club, County and state party endorsements of candidates on woman’s justice, equity, gender bias elimination, et al. I feel this is what I am most proud of achieving.
I started my grass roots work door knocking and telephone banking for Obama. Then, as now, I support Bernie Sanders for President. When Bernie was moved aside his first go around by the DNC, I supported Hillary Clinton. From here, I learned about the club system. At the clubs, I saw the county party. Helping Ro Khanna placed me at the County Party, where I belong. Vote for me.
I have assisted a Santa Clara City Council candidate in the last election as a key advisor, with some duties you might think of as campaign manager. I did this in a city council race a few election cycles ago for a Milpitas city council candidate.
My work life before political activism, since my son was in preschool forward, some 30 years ago, was that of Mr. Mom. I slowly reduced my income producing real estate sales as a real estate agent in Santa Clara, till it was obvious that my family needed me to be full time at home. My wife benefited as a joint decision that provided her time to advance her career. I support woman choosing the life that they want without barriers or interference. I lived, and live that core value.
I have sold commercial and residential lighting for General Electric in S. Ca; Headphones, radios and speakers throughout N. Ca and Nevada for Koss Corp. I think the consumer electronics sales job sales job was the most fun. There were a few other consumer product sales jobs on behalf of manufacturers to retailers.
I hold an AA degree from Fullerton College and a BA degree in Business from SF State. Marketing was my Major. I also focused upon economics with a major within that field of study of Labor Relations.
