Socorro Cisneros was born in Los Angeles, growing up in the South Central and East Los Angeles neighborhoods. This gave her an early consciousness of the disparity of opportunities in her environment.

After high school Socorro attended East Los Angeles College as a single mother. She realized only by way of an education would she be able to offer her child more opportunities in life.  It was here that she became involved with student activism that eventually led her to join Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers Grape Boycott in the early 90’s

Between caring for her child, going to college, and working only part time she found that a full time job would be necessary. For the next 24 years she worked for the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority a union job that she enjoyed. While working and with her value of education she continued her education in her time off. She was able to earn a Bachelor degree in Organizational Management.

She never forgot the United Farm Workers and the struggle for fair working conditions. She became heavily involved in Labor Union activities helping fellow workers. She earned a degree in Labor Studies and began her involvement with other Unions preparing for hearings, negotiating contracts, interpreting contract language, congressional lobbying for safety standards, organizing union election campaigns and as an official observer of election processes.

In addition, she served her community as an advocate for parents with special needs children. 
She help prepare IEPs and negotiated on behalf of parents with school officials.

After relocating to the High Desert area of California she again found herself being a voice and coming to the defense of who cannot defend themselves. She became involved in her community and led a group of home owners against the establishment of an industrial sized development in a residential neighborhood.

Socorro lives in the High Desert with her husband, where she serves as the Chair of the Tri-community Democratic Club and Vice-Chair of the High Desert SCLC. She is a member and organizer; High Desert Latina Summit, Phelan Chamber of Commerce, Chicano Latino Democratic Caucus, LULAC and NAACP to name a few.

Roger La Plante is a combat veteran of the 1st Inf Div Big Red 1. In 1985 he served in the NATO European theater of operations in the Cold War. In 1991 he served in Iraq. Was owner/operator of the Bavarian Schnitzel Factory in 1996, giving him valuable business experience. Graduated in 2005 from Victor Valley College using the G.I.Bill, receiving an A.S., and A.A. Roger is a Veteran rights activist and a voter registration committee chairman 2016-present.

Alex seeks to bring a fresh new perspective to local politics, and he has the know-how to enact real change in his home district. Alex’s wide-ranging political experience, commitment to serving his community, and strong conservative values make him the ideal candidate for California’s 33rd Assembly District.

Alex is a third-generation High Desert resident. His family instilled in him a strong sense of civic duty from a young age; some of Alex’s earliest and fondest memories are of him spending weekends clearing garbage from the desert with his father, a law-enforcement officer, who taught him the importance of taking pride in his community. Following the guidance of his father, Alex volunteered in numerous local classrooms, churches, and neighborhoods, going out of his way to improve the quality of life for his fellow Californians.

Alex’s ambitions widened in scope when he left California to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Washington, D.C. Alex dreamed of returning to Apple Valley to work as a teacher in the very schools he attended. Taking advantage of the capital’s opportunities, he worked on Carly Fiorina’s 2015 presidential campaign. By the end of his time at the George Washington University, Alex had worked on eight campaigns for conservatives across the country, ranging from local elections to presidential bids. In addition, Alex worked in three United States Congressional offices, including that of Arizona Senator Martha McSally. This formative period reaffirmed Alex’s commitment to public service and inspired him to push for greater opportunities to serve.

Alex currently works as a seventh and eighth grade English and Social Studies teacher through Teach For America. He is also pursuing a Masters in Education at Johns Hopkins University. Operating on the principles of service, commitment to his community, and a faith in the bright future of the High Desert, Alex is running for State Assembly to challenge the status quo. He hopes to be a strong voice in service to the community that raised him.
