In 2008, while still in high school, Grayson Pangilinan returned home and was met with the roaring voice of then-Senator Barack Obama accepting the nomination to become The Democratic Nominee for President of The United States. Obama’s call to action inspired Grayson, like many young Americans, to take up the baton and shape the world of tomorrow. In his community, Grayson saw first-hand the effect education spending cuts were having on school districts statewide, and when deeper cuts were expected, he started a grassroots campaign to lobby the State Legislature to place a sales tax extension on the ballot to fund K-12 public education. Later, he worked for Governor Jerry Brown, Assemblyman Ken Cooley, and served as an Assistant Field Director for Congressman Ami Bera. While still a full-time college student, he founded my first company and leveraged my passion for green energy to help thousands of homeowners across California remodel their homes to become more energy efficient. Today, he continues his work as a Green Energy Entrepreneur and works in technology/software.

I want to represent District 54 in the California State Assembly because too many politicians engage in the same old policy debates that are tone-deaf to the challenges of today and tomorrow. My generation must face an ever-growing list of challenges that threaten our future: a rapidly changing climate, growing income inequality in the age of automation, digital security threats – especially those that threaten the integrity of our elections, life-sentencing student debt, out-of-date infrastructure that is being replaced with decades-old solutions that don’t align with tomorrow’s technological advancements, and much more. We need to inspire a larger percentage of young Americans to get involved and stay engaged.
I believe we need a new generation, with a new mindset to take the reigns of elected office and prepare us for the world we will share tomorrow. While Washington turned backward with the election of Donald Trump – California, as the leader of The Opposition Movement, has the unique opportunity to set an example for the rest of our country and lead America into the future.
