Coal has no place in our national energy policy.  Fracking threatens to poison our most valuable commodity, our water supply with very little oversight.  I believe that we need support alternative fuels, not just to protect our environment, but rather because it is good business.  By embracing the future of renewable energy, we can become leaders in the next wave of energy revolution.  This will create jobs and put California on the leading edge of this technology boom.  This creates jobs, opens more disposable income which further stimulates the State economy.  

I am pro 2nd Amendment, but anti-NRA.  We need to enforce the gun laws already on the books rather than creating new laws.  Violent criminals who use guns while committing a crime should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The "Gun Show" loopholes need to be closed and we need more effective sharing of information between agencies to ensure we identify those who should not have access to guns.  

This is an issue that should be decided by the voters of California, with me voting their will.  The TPP creates the opportunities for the state to expand its trade, as well as the byproducts such as increased trade through the States ports and infrastructure.  This opens windows for trade if it provides for equitable an open trade.  Any country that puts tariffs on any industries should be excluded from the TPP.

This should be addressed at the state level.  While I am not in favor of legalization, if that is the will of the People of California, then it should be legalized.  However, I feel the Federal government should pass legislation to decrease nicotine content of cigarettes 20% each year to decrease Americans addicted to this legal drug.  The Federally sanctioned addiction is embarassing and hypocritical.

Ultimately each U.S. Senate vote should be decided by the voters of California with me representing their "will."  Water is the single greatest issue for California's future .  We need to address the archaic and byzantine water laws that date back to the 1800.  Additionally, we need to create a sustainable Colorado River pact with the 8 states that rely on the river's flow for their sustainability.  The current agreement is based on faulty assumptions from prior to Lake Mead being built that are 8 times greater than the amount than the maximum that has ever flowed through Colorado River.  Additionally, we need to increase usage of recycled water as well as creating new avenues of water storage.  We need to ensure that the groundwater is protected from pollution, while not overdrawing our aquifers.    Von's Platform in 80 second

This an issue that the California Voters should decided.  Polls have shown that the voters of California want a pathway to citizenship, not amnesty.  We are a country of immigrants and providing a way for immigrants to pay taxes, and proceed legally to become an American citizen would be the most pragmatic approach to a very complicated and critical issue.
